Just bought an 82 and 83E them this week. Both were running fine but the 82' model has sat for a few days without being started. Started it up just fine and rode it for a few minutes tonight. Got it back in the driveway and smelled a STRONG odor of gasoline. Looked and saw that the carb overflow tube was pouring gas out. Did not do this a few days ago when I brought it home. Stops when I turn the petcock to the OFF position.

I have researched it and some say to clean and adjust the needles in the carbs and others say it cant be done....just buy a new one.

Need help! Is it worth the time to take it off/apart and clean it out? Or should I buy a new one? Or is this even the problem??

it is absolutely worth doing. The float is probably sticking. Just remove the carb, take it apart, and clean with some solvent, blow it out with compressed air and you should be good to go. rebuild kits are cheap, but i doubt you even need one. just record the # of turns it takes to remove the idle screw if you dont have the manual. Very easy 30 min job, dive right in!

Thanks man. Just was not sure what the problem would be... Will take care out that tomorrow night! And have off work all next week. Gonna get some things taken care of on these two 200E's...

i ordered a carb kit and they sent me the wrong one. it's for a 200e and I needed one for a 200x. I paid $22 shipped. you can have it for $22 shipped if ya want it. its new int he package un-opened. Also I'm about to install my new 28mm carb on my 200e, do you want me old stocker? it runs perfect w/o any issues. if you want it, $45+shipping costs and this will include an extra set of jets (smaller stock size) I run larger jets because i'm running a hopped up 200e but if your not the stockers will work fine.

you probably dont need a kit of any sort.... just take off the float bowl and see how the float is moving. pull the float out and clean it off and make sure the float plug is clean too. blow out all the jets while its apart too. im sure you will have it up and running in under an hour

Oscar.. I appreciate it but not needed. Took off the carb tonight and cleaned the crap out of everything. Float was a little sticky and gunked up.

Put it back in and runs like a champ now without pouring gas all over the garage. Thanks for all the input!
