Okay everyone I have the opt to make one of two choices please let me know what you think.

Opt. 1 - 85 350x does not run right now told needs carb rebuild and front forks rebuilt has sat for 6 years $500.00

Opt. 2 - 85 200x was told it does run strong but smokes ( not sure to what extent yet) was also told everthying is complete and in good shape. $700.00

I'd deffinately go with the 350X. If the 200X was cheaper I'd say go with it but for the price the 350 is a hands down winner. Carb. rebuild and fork seals are easy.

I would do a compression test on the 350X, but it sounds like the better deal. I mean if the 200X smokes badly, it will probably need the upper end done, so it needs more work, costs more money and has less power.

My vote would go to the 350X in this case. I just bought a 200X and I love it, but if I could have got a 350X for less money that ran better I would have bought it in a second. The extra power of the 350X would be real nice to have.

I guess there is some issue of parts for the 350X more than the 200X, but you would want some of the guys who own 350X to tell you what is hard to find and is no longer made, or expensive etc.

i would love to have either, but the 350 is obviously more power which would be a plus! and like 200xmichigan said upper end needs to be redone to have it not smoke $$$

I voted 350x. I have a 200x cause it was for sale when I wanted one. My 200x runs like a 350x but it cost a ton to build. Get the power up front with the 350x.

I say 350X you'll probably be in it for less money after repairs and have more power.

Oh crap I just had an 86 250sx enter the picture....I can do without the 200x but I think I've been wanting a 250sx longer than a 350. the 350 is not going anywhere but can't say the same about the 250 sx I'm screwed guys this is a tough one for me.

Have not seen yet but owner says runs strong and has small engine oil leak:wondering I have my doubts about it being an 86 seat looks black and fender looks like it has the 85 decal on it but the fork boots re blue and headlight is white and the tank is white but has no decals:wondering price is okay but I realy think I should only get one ( still got my boys atc90 to clean up and get some parts for before his 5th b-day in April.

in this case, 350 since the 200x is a little expensive for the condition. it's not worth $700 not running right unless it's got a lot of special stuff on it and looks in really good shape.

I didn't know anyone actually pays for 200x's, I just seem to end up with them. Go with the 350, the 250 sx is heavy and slow, but the shaft drive and electric start are nice to have.

The 350x is a great trike, and well worth investing the time and $$ into it.

Well I have this pole open for 14 days but it seems like the consensus has spoken in favor of the 350x, I should be picking it up this weekend if all goes well and I'll be sure to post pics. Plus all you that voted 350 I'll be expecting advice and tips from you, this is a new area of three wheeler that I'm not acustomed to and may have more probs and ?s once I get started on it.....but I know you guys wont let me down, thanks for voting and the comments.

Before you begin trying to start it, be sure to soak that cylinder down with oil. If it's sat for six years without running, it'll be dry as a bone!

I voted 350x for obvious reasons ;)

hmm, the 200x is not worth the trouble with the top end junk, if the 350x just sat clean the carb and go riding.

62 for 350x

4 for the 200x.

How do I soak the cylinder?

How do I soak the cylinder?

Pour some oil down the spark plug hole.

Definitely do that, get a new spark plug, check the fuel filter, gas tank and fuel lines for rust or gunk. Then take the carb off and go through that, it will mostly likely be all gunked up.

Next thing, 350x's are a little funny with starting sometimes, it's best to slowly kick the kick starter until you feel it stop about halfway down, bring it back up to the top and give it one really hard kick. They can kill your leg if you just keep kicking and kicking.

Well this has been a little while ago, so here's the latest, the 350x was sold out from under me it sucks, but the good news is I got the 86 200x ( at much less than the 900.) and the smoke I mentioned is very little and it still has loads of power. The plastics are rough but I'm real happy with it. I'll start a new thread soon for the 86 and post some pics.
