You have everything off, according to the manual?

Hammer and a block of wood, don't think the rubber mallet is gonna be very effective.

PB blaster and patience, I sprayed mine every day, for a week.

no and no. both are trashed. it's not a mater of maing them work, but a matter of safety. the carier will not work right and cause more problems and damage more. the axle is so ba that a good bump at the wrong time coudlc ase it to break there due to stress. not worth it. get some used part soff ebay and be done with it.

I'm not gonna jump on the "junk wagon" just yet......

What IS THIS?? Shaft drive?? Why am I seeing internal splines inside something and a piece broke off??

Get some better pics, the model and function of these parts, then we can talk trikes :D

That's a Yamaha 225dx.

That axle shows me a bearing journal and a shoulder or "stop". A smooth filing of the crappy stuff will prob. be fine......

That inner spline must be the ring gear?? Can it still seal and house a bearing with that one piece knocked out of it? If so, you may be ok. You probably damaged it just removing it with force or the wrong direction.

Get more pics, clean it up and we'll figure it out.......

hello
ok so i did some cleaning on the 225 axle and drive case or what ever you call it.
so it looks like the damage is contained to the collar not the axle. some of the splines are messed up where the brake mounts,i should be able to fix those.

the areas that are ruined are realy a support to hold the bearing in,except where they hacked in to the area where the bearing rides. can these areas be filled in with weld and then shaped back to original shape?

now the gear i have the two little pieces can these be reattached some how?

They did a number on that.

I wouldn't use any of those parts.

hello
why not use them the axle is not damaged only the pressed on collar.if i can get it tig welded by some one good why cant i file and buff the part where the bearing rides. do they sell that collar still? is it possible to have a new one pressed on.

as for the gear there expensive, the part that is broke off really dont do any thing does it?

the broken peice is where the "seal" is and it will not seal w/o it. look at your own photo and you can see the rubber seal sticking out, again I would not use it. I'm sure you can find another rear end in ok shape that may need jsut a rebuild (bearings seals) but no broken stuff for a good deal les that you'll pay for welding and maching.

the gear you can find used pretty cheap if you have some time to be patient. you could make the axle work im sure, but also they can be had very reasonable with some searching.

hello
thats why im asking if the pieces can be reattached. and i have not seen these parts cheap.just the drive ive seen on ebay for over a hundred. i have more time than money so its easier for me to fix it than shell out over a hundred or more dollars if i can have it fixed.

now inn a ideal situation i would just buy one but i just cant afford it.

get new stuff or new used stuff but do not ride on that stuff in the pics.

The way that axle was boogered up by the PO, I think it was pretty much a lost cause from the start.

Fix it right, hate to have that rear lock up, while your doing 45 mph.

hello
my bad the axle damage was man made not natural!
it was done with a air chisel they thought that it was part of the bearing. nothing caused this but someone being stupid. and the little piece off the gear was from me removing the bearings my driver got wedged in there.

keep watching ebay if you dont mind not riding, it may take a few months, but one will pop up for cheap. Or bring the gear to a shop, and see what they say.
