I just cleaned the carb on my tecate last week and today i filled it up with gas and ran it around the yard for a bit and didnt have a problem with it. I put it back in the garage and turned off the gas and everything. I came back out a little later to ride again and there is gas leaking out of the overflow lines onto the ground. I dont know if the float is stuck or what. Can anyone help me with this problem? thanks

Sounds like it needs more cleaning. The carb was problably not leaking when it was riding as it was burning up the gas just as fast, but once it parked then it starts at it. Sounds like it could be a float stuck and give her more cleaning.

My tecate leaks too I have had 4 of them running and the carbs all leak when they sit too long. I just shut the fuel off at the petcock to save gas. If you fix the problem let us know.

Read this before you clean your carb again.

first make sure the float bowl screw is turned in snuggly, If it is your gonna have to pull it back out and clean more, or get a rebuild kit.

Unless your float levels are too high, I often find when this happens that the float needle valve is bad. The valve can be tested with the bowl off, holding tangs to close needle valve, then turning gas on. If it drips when closed then it is bad. Turn gas off then replace it.

When I had a float stick gas would just pour out not drip.

Take a Q tip and clean the needle valve seat really good with carb cleaner or alcohol. Make sure there isnt a groove on your needle valve where it seats too. If so, replace and recheck. Also adjust your float height while you have it apart, if its too high it will cause it to leak..
