Can someone school me on tire size and rims. I have a 84 200x with the factory rims. Im gonna buy a new set of tires for the rear and want to run around a 18" tire. I will not be running this on rocky/rough trails. Mostly just dirt and some mx tracks. Any suggestions on tire size/brand/pattern and preformance would greatly be appreciated. What kind of rims and sizes would I be looking for. Places to buy rims/tires?

I want to keep my factory rims with the lumberjacks I have mounted on them for easy switch.

I would also like to know what rims/tires fit an '85 200x? Would they be the same as the '84 x? Do the newer Honda 250's or 400 ex rims fit?

Yes, 4X110 all of the 200x's, 250R's, 350X's, 300EX's, 400EX's, and 450R's have the same bolt pattern. If you use the hubs from a 300EX or 400EX it will give you I think 2 inches more width.

And as for the wheel sizes, 18" tires will cause you to have to regear your 200X to get it back to where it was with the larger tires.

Here is another link. This one will show you the change in gear ratio from the teeth you have to the teeth you will need to maintain the same rpm at the same speed.

So if I go out to the swap meet and find some honda wheels/tires for example from a 300ex,400ex, or 450. I will be able to go home and just bolt them onto my trike with no problem or having to re-gear my trike?

WELL.....yes they will fit BUT....stock 300ex type wheels have a thicker center then the 200x wheels or douglas wheels, you will need to use a tapered lug nut (stock had flat lug nuts) and may have to grind off the little tab on the 200x hubs. If you go with 300ex type hubs , no problems and they bolt right on. Just some info for ya.

What tabs are you talking about on the 200x? If its what I'm thinking of, that may be the problem I'm having with my wheel spacers i just put on and for some reason my x now wobbles?

i use the 400ex rims/tires/hubs they work very well in all but the super muddy spots

here is a pic from ebay, right under each stud there is a small tab that sticks out, on the 300ex wheels the rim hits these tabs, just grind them down. If you need better pics I can go dig out a hub,

Anybody got pro/con of a 18" vs a 20" tire. I know ground clearance is one thing you lose with a 18". Im still trying to decide if I should go 18 or 20 in the rear.

i realy liked 18"s on my 200x. ive had 19's on them also and 20's. my 19's measured 18, some 20's measure 19'
