I consider myself a pretty good mechanic, and I did the front brakes just fine, but I've never come across a brake setup like on the rear of this bike. I took off the wheel, hub, and all the bolts around the outside of the brake drum, and beat on it with a rubber mallet but it didn't loosen up. Are there more bolts I need to take out? Or what do I need to do? thanks ahead of time

Negative, once you remove them it should come off but might need more encouragement. I have had issues in the past where a brake pad had seperated and the piece of pads wedge in wrong and made it very difficult to get off. I took a flat head screw driver and pry'd it as I banged with the hammer. I would also adjust the cable all the way out and possibily even remove it from the levers. You might need to try some heat on it too along with penatration lube of some sort.

When I replaced the rear brakes on mine I had to use a 3 jaw puller to remove the drum . If I remember right the splines on the drum were rusted to the axle.

Thank you guys so much, especially for the manual. I see now what I'm having trouble with is the drum cover. I haven't even made it to the real problem yet I guess :-(. thanks again tho.
