I would like to extend the rear stance on my '83atc200. Anyone make their own spacers? I've seen 'em for sale on ebay, but I'm not a huge ebay fan. Could a guy use longer hardened bolts with washers between the wheel and hubs? I have the tools and skills to weld the washers together. I pretty much use the atc for ice fishing and beating around some. I'd like a bit more stability for when the neighborhood kids ride it and for when I have too many Budweisers:beer . Is this a good idea? Thanks.....Matt

I wouldnt do it... Not with welded washers. I custom made my spacers, but had a mill and a lathe to help with that project... I would just spiff the money rather than go that route again...

use a solid material, like a heavy wall pipe.the hardened bolts are fine though

The more I think about it now the washer idea isn't sounding too good. As for the thick wall pipe, something like black pipe would work? Should I find some that has a close inside diameter to the outside diameter of the wheel studs? If the diameter is bigger, will it make my rear end out of balance? How wide would be too wide? I was thinking 1.5 inces on each side. Thanks.....Matt

1.5 would be max in my mind I also like the idea of bending and welding flat stock around the pipe that fits tight with the studs just to keep them square

That's what I'm talkin' about. Winter is here and work is slow. This should keep me busy. Just seems like I could make these and save some coin. Great pics Crazy, thanks. Gonna try to get to the hardware stare tomorrow for some pipe, and some Budweiser to help the thought process......Matt

welcome Matt..... just make sure you cut all the peices as close as you can to each other...........balance ya know....... Not a real huge issue on my 90cc 70 but 200 wheel speed may be a bigger issue.....should work just fine.....keep us posted.
