Yeah I have 2 tecate projects, a custom green 70 (with 110 motor), and a 250SX to finish up. Along with that, I have a few upgrade parts for the 250r and the 87 tecate.....geez running out of room fast too.
I am in the same boat and had to step back a bit. I have the trizinger and cagiva going on, need to do some reworking on the barbie 70, have the KLX400 tore completly down to make a desert racer ( dont ask me why ) and my cruiser has some strange problem tjhat i cant figure out. So instead of stressing i just shut the garage and decided to take a break.

Tell me bout it guys. 350X tore down to the frame and engine in pieces for a rebuild. Old Dirty getting some much needed attention, Beater 200X getting a quick rebuild (kicker gears). Two 70's that deperately need some attention.
Oh yea, and very little money to do so. I'll focus onthe 350 for now.

Guys i hear ya i got my 200x project that is going nowhere because the lack of cash in my pocket most nights i sit in the shop and drink beer and just look at it but now that the snow is here and my piece of junk arctic cat 650 v2 quad decides its gonna start chewing the top off of the drive belt again i cant really play in the snow and i cant figure out why it does it so depressing i hate winter

Snowmobile waiting for parts from the stealer, 200x that needs finished up, and a 110 that has no spark. At least my CraigsList snowblower I bought a couple months back worked good yesterday after a carb rebuild.

Well I'm ready to start hitting it hard ,we finally got all the harvesting all wrapped up for the season an most of the deer hunting is out of the way,I mite geta few more day's in but for the most part I'm ready to roll.I have enough to keep me going for the whole winter already and people knocking on the door wanting to get in,just pick a number is all I can say..I get burned out bigtime every year ,it's just the nature of the beast I guess, with family -holiday's - daily scheduling and everything else going on a guy's just gotta put it in 1st gear sometime's ,slow down and smell the roses,My motto is that if your not having fun doing something it begings to feel like work but I'm ready to start having some fun....

Im kinda bummed out. About a month ago i completely stripped my running/driving tecate down so i could rebuild it this winter. I was so excited it didnt matter if there was snow or not, i was going to have a nice machine. Now that money is getting in the way and my t3 sits in pieces in my garage im wishing i would have left it complete so i could at least ride it this winter. I cant see putting old bearings and what not back in just to ride so i guess it will just sit in boxes until i can get the money. No snow rides for me :( :( Then i goto college on top of it and finals are this week! Stress i tell ya, stress

I think anyone who owns a machine that is 20+ years old has the same problem. I have 10 tecates none run, 2 zingers none run, and a 350x that needs a front tire (just got one yesterday). All of my cars need work (I have 3). Seems like we all have the same issues. Money, time, and to much to do.
* I don't know if "points" ment you wanted some advise or not but, just in case I'll throw in my 2 cents. The atc70 sounds to me like something is plugged in the fuel system or the floats are adjusted way to low. The alt probably needs a new primer.
Good luck with everything.:beer

right there with ya. 200m needs carb rebuilt, chokes cables, possibly breaks and have yet to test clutches. Youngest son 90 is running low on compression and hard to start, Daughters 110 needs seat cover, and figure out poping out of gear issues. Wifes quad needs break cables. Gokart needs valve seals something terrible..lol Also sons 90 needs his carb taken apart and cleaned too. 200x is going to need some topend love soon. They all need oil and plug changes too. Oh yes my old 68 chevy truck needs a motor, I am trying to get my 86 F250 running and smogged to sell for a lift kit for my bronco. Trying to nail down a weird small miss in the taurus and a random miss in the bronco all while trying to spend time with my family and keep everything running. I do have a plus though and that is I am teaching my oldest son to work on his own stuff and soon he will be able to tear into the basic stuff and fix himself and fix the other kids as well (ha ha, he has no clue is is slowly becoming the maintaince guy..lol) It does seem funny to me though that of all the stuff I have going the old 200s is old reliable. Rust in tank and hard on the back but she is always ready for duty.
My wife is very good about all my projects and she always says you need to relax and loet things happen in time. We all have running wheelers so everything will happen in time. Plus the new house has a shop and cement floor so no more woking in the back yard dirt. :w00t:
Yeah man gotta take time off and ride/relax. Enjoy the runners you have and fix the others in time.

I think thats why some of us have sooooo many parts. They are all "someday" projects......
I have a running 70, 350X, 250SX and 200X and thats enough for me! Besides, the more I have running, I let friends (ruin) ride them and then I have to change the oil and keep good gas in there and so on and so on.
I think 3 or 4 good runners is enough work for the average guy. Once you have 6 70's, 3 - 250R's, 2 - 350X's etc etc, it just gets to be too much and not so much fun anymore.
I wish I could have 20 running trikes but it's too much and I feel fortunate to have what I have

Agreed DirtCrasher, 3 of my projects are boxes of parts.
Not that they would require much other than my time, but my time is very occupied.
That is the one thing about when someone is riding one of your machines, when they break it, most times they don't offer to fix or help pay for it. I do feel really bad when i break someone else's stuff, and i feel the need to put it first and foremost before everything else, even if it inconveniences me greatly.

At one time there was a 200x in the shop, a triz, 6 70s, a 350x, and a 200m...I didn't like any of the bikes as they were.
I sold them off and focused on one, made things easier to bear, though a little rougher on the wallet at times.
One thing that makes it nice is a running machine... the trx300 I bought a few weeks ago has already been worth the price I paid for it. I've lucked out on a few things with it...the jetting was too rich and the carb was damaged and the needle unadjustable from it's richer setting.... ran a 134 main and 75:1 dominator 2 stroke oil in it. Engine runs STRONG, and I didn't have to change anything.

i agree with goat. sometimes its good to consolidate. Its so much easier to focus on just one project and give it the attention it deserves. I think more than anything that the reason we don't part with these machine's, is because we're afraid they won't get the care they deserve. its a catch 22 i guess. we're just a buch of softies that know how to ride real bikes, and don't want to see whats left of them go to the scrap heap.

When I start looking at all my projects at once, I get discouraged too. Right now it's so cold (it got up to 9 degrees today..that's Farenheit), I can't function in the garage. I dream about a shop like some of you showed in the shop thread. I've got a 125m engine in pieces thanks to DC (he badgered me into it....that's my story) and I finally brought it in the house so I can hopefully make some progress on it.

^ lol... I have some more 125M parts if you want em :D
It's funny, Magic James touched on it well. If I wreck someone's stuff I go WAY out of my way to make it right, most people could care less about damaging your stuff and almost never make good on it............ :(

I keep wanting to rip down my 350x and fix a bunch of little issues. None of them are major, or intefer with how it runs. Biggest problem is it needs a front tire, and I know where there is one on a rim that Im hoping to buy this weekend.
Besides the x all my other bikes are running great(knock on wood).
But I know what you mean DC. Hard to keep a bunch running well. I think Im maxxed at 5(till another deal pops up lol).

Man do I know....
I got two CB550's
A Trail 90
an old Ford F-250 diesel with a blown motor
a diesel Landcruiser I picked up in Canada with the intent of rebuilding the motor in swapping it in my 4Runner
my 200X that I want to restore
and I might be picking up two more 3 wheelers soon, a Honda 110, and a Kawasaki (the guy doesn't know what it is and won't look), but the Honda runs for real cheap.
Ya know, I think that is also how we get into this....I don't know about a lot of you but a few weeks ago when I bought the 200X, I didn't think I was going to love it so much I would want to restore it. So we buy stuff, for cheap, for fun, and then like it, and see its been neglected and have to fix it. And our cheap toy became not so cheap.
and the one that really gets me is my mother in law traded her boat to some dueche bag who tore the lower end apart on a 200 horse johnson outobard, that ran great, and left all the parts inside the boat to rust......then gave it back to her cuz he couldn't come though on his side of the bargain......that was awesome. Now I am supposed to fix it. Everytime I look at the boat I get mad and sad and just feel like taking wrenches away from all the incompetent morons out there.
I think the lesson for all of us, keep a rider, don't tear it apart unless we know we got the cash, and beer is good

I know the feeling. I pull all the maintaince on my trikes , change oil clean air filter fix mes ups finally get them back together then my nephew his sisters come for a visit and the first thing they want to do is RIDE 3WHEELERS. After they leave I get to fix the screw ups. You cant ever get ahead. But I get great joy seeing those kids ride and have a great time. Glenn O.

you hit that nail on the head! My daughter when it is my weekend, nephews, and wifes nephew all are first to ask "Can we ride the 3 wheelers?" I guess this is really the deep down reason I ever had all of these around. When I stop and think of the fun we all have had, it does kinda make all the work seem like small potatoes:beer Still a lot of time man........what else would I be doing though huh??
