intermittant start

got an 86 big red 250 and its been driving me crazy. It only starts intermittently. I bought a new coil which checks out, and both the exciter and pulsar check out too. Used the service manual to check the Ohms like they say to.

The problem is i lose spark and when i do have i, its weak. Sometimes i can ride it and it runs great, but try to start it up ten minutes after turning it off and nothing. Someways it won't even catch.

Any ideas out there? Anyone have similar situation?

Do you mean the starter won't catch to start it? I ask because it could mean other problems that can cause this.
