86 cdi on 85 250r motor

I've got a 85 250r that im building and realized the cdi box was missing. So i bought a cdi for a 86 along with a 86 wire harness and after some snooping around on here I noticed that some of you said the ignition curves or mapping was different betwenn the 85 and 86. My question is will the 86 box work for my 85 motor? And have any of you spliced an 86 harness to connect to a 85 motor? I have a 85 wire harness that's pretty messed up, can I just swap the plugs out on the ends of the harness where it connects to motor?

Just use the 86 box and 86 harness, the only difference between the 85-86 harness is the plugs for the cdi. One of my 86 250'r is sportin an 85 style harness and cdi box on a 86 motor so I know it will work. Dont go splicing things,.......creates problems down the road. The plugs that go to the stator wires and inpulse wires are the same between the 2 years
