Have a performance cam for Web-Cam on my 250sx. With the new cam, will the valve clearances be any different, or the recommended clearance in the manuel?

They should be the same. If not it should say with the new cam.

I got heavier springs too. It all came with 3 pieces of paper that say different things. Oh well, i'll use the recommended clearance. Is it really .003 in.? That is really, really tight!

i hope you got hardened rockers or else your going to rip the cam pads appart. web can hard weld them and redo them for $65 each rocker. so it's not horrible. i had to do this to my 200e big red when I used a stage3 with performance springs and titanuim retainers.

Got just the mild cam. Shouldn't be a problem. No bore or performance piston or anything.

i used hard weld cams in my 350X and 400EX over the years with stock rockers and had no problem. the cam in the 400EX has hundreds of hours and never took out a rocker. just make sure that you keep your oil changed often. and also use a good quality ATV oil. i would also recommend 20W50 year round. in the cold weather it will smoke on start up a little but won't hurt it. it also depends on the ramp speed of the cam lobe, but most mild cams will be fine with stock rockers as long as you pay attention to the oil. as for clearance i would go with .001 looser than the stock recomendation. i think you are right on the .003 being stock i would go .004 to start with. if you go .003 then i would look at the heal of the cam lobes after about an hour of ride time to see if there are any signs of it rubbing the heel. i ran .003 with the 350X and a hard weld web cam but it was just a slight bit tight.

Read a little more into it, and thats exactly what they call for. Got it back together now, just have to throw it back in. Prey that it runs again!
