I am replacing the bottom head gasket on 250sx. I am using the same piston and cylinder. I know your not suppose to line up the gaps on the piston rings, but is there any other way to screw that up? Should they go front to back, or side to side, or does it matter as long as there not at the same point?

They are supposed to go like 20-30 degrees apart IIRC. Check the manual.

180 degrees off with the two compression rings. then put the oil rings about 15 degrees off on each side from the bottom compression ring gap. With that done you should have a good seal.
