Dual row bearing carrier question!

Hey guys, been working on my 250R lately, and I finally got my axle free of my bearing carrier, the bearings are completely trashed and I need to get new ones, but I got a dual row carrier, can I use four standard bearings as opposed to buying a new set of dual rows? (I already got 2 standard bearings, and was wondering if i could just buy 2 more say)

for one thing, the bearing spacer tube might not be the right length.

another reason is, if that worked i would think it would be a common thing.

No.
4 regular bearings will not work.
Stacked together, they will be wider than the dual row bearings.
Like Swigin says, the tube will not fit, and the carrier itself is not recessed deep enough to stack 4 bearings like that.

one thing i have never seen touched on ,,, the actual bearing surface on the axle isn't as wide as a dual row bearing either,,,

you have to get dual row bearings, they are sold on e-bay pretty cheap. I don't know the name of who sells them, but bearings for a dual row bearings for a 250r, 450r, 400ex, 300ex and maybe more are the same. Doesn't matter too much on the brand of the carrier, all use the same bearings. Most of the newer bearings are sealed on both sides, you won't need to pump the carrier with grease if you use them.

your right but it don't matter. the barring life will be much longer than stock.

the barring is available at many hydraulic and industrial barring supply houses.they offer much better quality barrings than the China ones that come in them. they are most of the time cheeper also. it is the same barring as the front barring in older GM A/C compressor clutches. the front of the compressor that the belt goes on, but on the inside. i never tried an auto parts store but they may be able to get them for this reason.

hmm i see, there's alot of the dual row bearings on ebay, i guess ill get some there.. sometimes with my suzuki four wheeler id bring the old bearing to an industrial shop and they'd match up the bearing for me, but the bearings literally fell apart when i took the axle out of the carrier, it wasn't fit, the inner and outer races i had to grind clear of the axle to get the spacer out from in between them. I still need to get the outer racers out of the carrier, gonna have to use a dremel i guess.. man this bike was let go by the previous owner

Seal number is -30-6125- matching seals (2 required)

85-89 250R,
93-09 300ex
99-09 400ex
04-09 TRX 450R

i put all balls bearings in my 400 scrambler when i had it...they seemed to hold up great given the fact that polaris didnt know how to design the carrier/bearing size big enough to handle the weight of the thing

this 907257 part number will be used by many of the suppliers. it is also the number to the Federal Mogul barring that many automotive stores can get. this part number will most of the time be a China barring, including the Federal Mogul one. at one time i had the NSK number but can't find it. i believe that the NSK bearing is still made in USA. any of the USA bearings are better than the china ones and sad to say but the Japan bearings are better than USA bearings.
