250sx Helmet/steering lock

I just bought a rought 250sx for parts,250r mag,complete 250r front end,not tank and fender....anyway.I just noticed that there is a helmet/steering lock on the frame and it's factory installed.It's the first time I see it,it's a normal equipment? My 85 sx doesn't have this part.This one is a 86 or 87 due to the differents rear end.

I have seen it a couple other times but it's pretty rare.

Not to be confused with the helmet holder, it's got a key and locks the triples.....

my 86 sx has one of them, the key for the bike should work for the lock.

yea my 86 and 87 both have them still.. i only have the original key for the 87 so that's the only one that still works. when we go bar hopping i still use it all the time to lock her up
