I'm new here and I know this has probably been ask before but I need some help. Does a 1985 ATC Honda 250R Swing arm fit a 1986 ATC 250R? I have a 1986 and I'm trying to find a replacement. Mine is cracked on both sides where the tightening bolts are and the cracks allow the carrier to slip no matter how tight the bolts are. Any help greatly appreciated. Kevin

I beleave the 85 was set up different than the 86.The 86 to 89 quad swingers will fit the 86 atc but not the 85.(I think)

the 86-87 trx ones will, 88/89 won't because the motor mounts were built into the frame on 88/89 r's. I was told a 85 swinger will work on a 86 atc, but the rear caliper mount is different and the carrier is different, you'd be better off getting a 86 or 87 swinger. Inland Atv probably has one I payed $140 for a like new one for a 85, they retail for something like $400.
Mine did that too :( , I fixed it with 3/32 steel welding rod at low current, a MIG is better. Easy to weld if you keep the current down, too high and itll burn through that thin steel.
If you do have it welded, weld it with the screws installed, I didnt, and had a mess when the heat warped one of the flanges and I cross threaded it.

Having the crack "V'd" out and getting it TIG welded would be the best way to ensure a good repair and to minimize heat warpage. Most decent metal fab places should be able to do it, just make sure to tell them that the part is subject to a lot of stress, so they repair it right.
