Hey all, just picked up a Yamaha YT125 and was looking for more information on it. The previous owner thought it was a 1982? How many gears does this thing have?
I picked it up off ebay for $28 and the engine starts right up and runs great. Everything seems to be there except the airbox and brake lever, it has a new carb although it's different from the stock one so the choke lever on the handlebars is not setup.
It's pretty rough looking but i'm going to restore it to like-new condition, anyone know where I can get a seat cover for this and a decal kit? :D
I'll post updates in this thread along the way :TrikesOwn

It may just be the picture or flat tire, but it looks to me like the front fork is bent in.

thanks for the info and links everyone!
Did a little work on the fenders, they still need to be wet sanded but they are cleaning up nicely! The front forks seem to be straight, I think it's just the picture makes it look like they are bent. The paint on the forks has seen better days and i'm not sure where i'd be able to find the matching color so I'm probably going to end up repainting them black.

That tri moto is deffinatly a 80-81 model. The 82-85 models have a few differences to be aware of when trying to buy parts. To name a few off the top of my head, the frames, airbox design, rear axle, cylinder and reeds, clutch components, gas tank plastic and decals are all different between the two generations. Nice bike though, and look forward to seeing her all fixed up! It looks like you are doing a great job so far. Keep up the great work and interesting pics!
