As broke as i am, i brought home another three wheeler. Locally we are having a motorcycle parts swap meet. I decided to go and just rome around. The second booth i hit had this sitting there. I payed $50 for it. It is needing a CDI and Control Unit., plastics, airbox, gas cap and i am sure other things. Driveline seems tight and it has great compression. i figured i would build this for my 2 month old son when he gets older. But the more i look at it, the more i want to get it running for the other too to enjoy. So if anyone has any extra parts laying around. Let me know. they dont have to be perfect just be functional for the next year or two. I do have the tank and seat.

Nice score . The first time I got my daughters running I drove accross my yard hit the throttle and fell off the back   . Didnt expect the front tire to come up like it did . Very peppy little buggers :Bounce .

Does anyone know if the electrics are compatible between the yt60 and the pw50? I had read that the engine parts are interchangeable between yf60,yt60, mj50, pw50 and qt50. I have located an aftermarket ignition system with CDI, Coil, Control unit, stator and wiring harness for a reasonable price. But it is for the pw50, i would think it would work if i am switching everything out.

Hey Barry Mann i quite a few parts for the yt-60 like wiring harness , cdi box , rear en , rear good red fenders , etc...... I am located in Dayton , Texas . Did you buy that at the Pasadena swapmeet today ? Did you see any YT-175 tri-moto's there ?

Yep, that pasadena swap meet was just right around the corner from me. This was the only three wheeler there or any parts. It was all harley. I did dig through a couple of crates looking for hidden treasures.

Bought a wiring harness, cdi, control unit and fenders from tri-shee. Hooked up the new cdi and control unit. Pulled a few times and no spark. Ripped out the old harness put in the new and no spark. bypassed the rear kill switch and bingo!!! SPARK. Dumped a tad of gas in the carb and fired off and idled for about 10 seconds. The carb is gummed up to the fuel inlet so hopefully i will get a chance to rebuild it tomorrow then it should be good to go besides the airbox and i think i have a few clamp on filters to work.

Got the carb cleaned and it fired second pull. Idles great on start, switch it to run and it wants to take off. The cable is adjusted to its lowest setting so something is wrong. I ran out of daylight so i couldnt fix it. Also the petcock is in horrible shape. so that will be next on the list.

After work i pulled it back out. It still had the problem of trying to take off when put in run mode. I backed out the air fuel mixture screw another turn and problem solved. Cranks on first pull but bogs at WOT. Might need to do some more adjusting but besides the bog it acts just like it is suppose to. I took it for a spin and everything else seemed to work good but the front tire will need replacing. It walks all over the place. After about 2-3 minutes of running the float bowl empties. All i need now to complete the project is a fuel cap, petcock and air filter.

Are you missing the baffel ? Might make a difference on the bogging problem?

Now that you say that, i think i am. It seems a bit loud but i havnt really looked at it. I have about 2 hours total working on it so far. I have been spending about 20 minutes a day tinkering. So i am sure there has been alot over looked. Saturday i am planning to spend all day with it.
