Hey guys, I know this has been BEAT to death, but I just want to know for sure; I'm about to buy the axle from an 86' TRX250R to put in my 86' ATC250R Rearend setup.. Will this work good? I don't want to have to modify anything.

Actually, there is one bushing that has a different O.D. Its one of the ones that goes in the dog bone. If you buy an adjustable one to lower the trike its designed for the TRX and has some slop.

i plan on just using the axle, and the rest will come from an atc. So what years of TRX axle will bolt into an 86' atc without modifying it? is it just 86 or like 86-89 or whatever those years are? thanks for gettin this info to me, gotta get a new axle, and theres not much in the way of atc axles

86-89 TRX250R axle is a bolt in. All the rear brake stuff, rotor, rotor hub, sprocket hub, etc are a direct swap.

that bushing would be the bottom bolt on the shock. On 85 is was a smaller bolt 12mm and the bushing was different to match it. In 86 it got a 14 or 15mm bolt and different bushing. What you are confusing is using a 85 bolt on 86-89 bolt. All 86 atc250r used the larger bolt, the reason why many swear they don't is because of the 20 years of swapping parts and with alot of the crushed 250r's being 85's, there was alot of 85 parts floating around for years. You could call several places and buy a complete rear end w/ the front frame members cut-off. This is also the reason why many 86-89 250r's are/were using 85 rear end parts. If you go with 86 atc250r suspension linkage parts, its the same as 86 trx. 87-89 trx is very very similar, the only difference is the shorter dogbone(~1"). The reason why the bolt and related parts were made bigger is because the 85 bolt bent easy(I bent 2 of them before going to a 86-89).
