I am hooking up the headlight on my new (new to me) atc 90 and cannot figure out what to do with the blue wire that comes off the headlight? Enclosed is the wiring diagram.

Thanks,

i am not 100% on this one but the Blue wire is for either High or Low beam and the earky 90s did not have that option in the switch just on or off

it is definatley for high beam, i have determined that. The switch on top of the headlight (factory switch) has 3 positions - off and then 2 other positions? Does one position turn on the tail light and the other the headlight?

Headlight and tail light come on at the same time.

In all Honda motorcycleand ATV, the blue wire is the High beam

I think I just figured this out. There is no kill switch on this bike. So this is my take - position # 1 = bike is off, position # 2 bike is in run mode, position # 3 bike is in run mode with lights on.

That's how my 77 90's are....They have a separate kill though from the headlight... the headlight positions are- Bike off, Bike on H/L off, and Bike on H/L on. There is no high beam.

my 1973 90 has the switch on the light - like yours - but has nothing to do with the kill switch. It is light off / light on lo / light on hi

Cool ,thanks. Seams odd that you cannot run a high beam?? Wonder what would happen if I connected the high and low beam wires together?? I am assuming that I would have a bright light. Anyone do this?

I don't think there is a "high" element in the 6 volt bulbs these take. I don't think it would do anything......

OK, so the lights are working. Front only low beam of course. Compared to my 110 the light are not nearly as bright. Pretty self expalnatory going from 6 volts to 12 volts. Is there any way to get the lights to be brighter without changing electronics?

Thanks,

The light on my 90 is pretty bright when it's not idling...Course I don't have a 110 to compare to.
