I can't suggest the cutter or feed speeds other than what I watch and see results from, with a carbide tipped cutter of course.....but......
I'd use a very rigid boring head and bar and take light cuts.
Getting it trammed in dead nuts to bore 6"s deep would be tough for me on an old BP, but with nice equipment, it should be fairly easy. And of course, excellant inside telescopic gauges and a good set of mics.
I'd never try it myself, maybe for a backhoe pin but not a cylinder that needs .003/.004./.005 clearance for the entire 5 or 6"s of depth etc etc.
What are you running for a mill, or is it a boring machine such as a Sunnen?????? My a hole dealer uses a "power hone" - what a joke!!
Good luck!!
