I saw one on ebay not to long ago, but Im wondering if anyone else has tried it? I can get a Z complete with no motor for pretty cheap, and Im considering building one.
My main question is, do the YZ 250s have a fuel pump like the tri does. How would that work with that motor.... (i.e. fuel pump with a 36mm Keihin carb) I dont think it would be a problem, but Ive never been around power valves and dont know if they suck fuel. Any and all help would be apprectiated.
Oh, and the chassis I can get is an 85. So if you know what year YZ motor would slip right in, give me an idea.

I think '85-7 is the one to get. If you get one & want to sell let me know. 8)

Thats what I was thinking to... I might have to find some YZs around here and compare before I get to serious about it.

A powervalve motor will use less fuel when the valve isn't open, when it does open it will be the same as a non valved motor. I've never had a dirt bike or trike with one but my sled has them and they helped the fuel mileage compared to the older non powervalve motor it replaced. But then again the bike motor you are looking at has a 36 mm carb were as the Z used a 34, so there goes your gas mileage! :D

I cant decide which carb I should use. I have a stock 36mm keihin, and a 39mm PWK (on my R right now, but might take it off)
Thanks for the info.

well my plans have changed again. this weekend it went from a YZ motor in a tri z, to a 500R, now its back to just getting my R running to perfection. Every deal I worked on fell through, so I have given up on relying on other people.. hehehe Besides, its only gonna take a grand to get my R running, so hopefully I will have it done in a couple of weeks.

compared to how much money I have dumped into this piggy back I call a 250R, another grand doesnt really mean much. I used to cringe everytime I had to spend a hundred on it.. now, Im redoing most of those fast $100 dollar deals, and doing it right.
