I have a near perfect 1985 350x. A local guy has $2500 cash in hand and wants to buy it tonight. Should I do it?

whats your definition of perfect?

no dents in tank, very very light scratches almost none on oem plastics. original everything including tires with good tread left. Seat is perfect. no rust, very low hour bike, less that 20 is my guess.

I would hold out personally. Unless you need the money bad.

Once I get all my 2 stroker Id view that as a good deal, and honestly offer you more cash in hand right now if you were close by.

Ive only seen one somewhat clean 85 up here and it has paint worn off the casing oem fenders and a ding in the tank for 3200. Though it still is for sale...

If he gives you the full $2500, stand at the end of the driveway and wave goodbye as it rolls away.
You can pretty much buy whatever machine you want for $2500.
You could even pick up another 350x for a grand

im an experienced rider and want a bike i can ride but i sorta fall in love with my machines!!! lol i hate to part with them but i really want a clean 250r. Are 250R's a pain in the arse to maintain and keep running? I know i can find a clean 250R for $1500-$2000

If it were me, I would keep it, especially if it's as nice as you say but the 350x is what I'd like to have one day. If you really want a 250r, sell the x and buy that.

Ya, i would love to have a 350X. i havent even seen one for sale around where i am. But im sure it would be retarded expensive as all 3 wheelers are in these here parts.......

If it is a 20 hour trike as you say, I would not consider 2500.00 Can anyone find a 350x with 20hrs on it?? I don't think so let alone for that price. She ain't eatin' no bread...... bad time to sell unless you are desperate for cash???? It would be hard to replace and at least you know what you have now.... just my 2 cents.... good luck

Be a hard choice for me as well. But if you want the 250r and cant swing it keeping the x then I'd say do it.
As far as maintaince on the r, not much to speak of. Uses a whole half a quart of trans oil that I change every 10 hours if not less. Run a good oil with your mix and you wont have anything to worry about.

2500.00 is a decent price in this economy. I would hold onto it though. It will be difficult to find one to replace it if ever you wanted. A few years back, low hour x's were selling for 3-5G's. If you want an r just save some pennys for awhile, then you will have both!!

I decided to keep it. Thanks for all of your guy's help. I was really unsure of what to do. The only thing I did know is that 2 years from now I would me saying damn, I wish I still had that 350x!!! I am going to search around for a nice 250R and keep my 350X. I don't even ride the 350 because i'm afraid i'd get carried away and break something on it. I just stare at it from time to time!! lol thanks again, I think I made the right decision on this one

You're making a mistake,, I would take the money and take the guy out to lunch for that kind of money.

Have you ever wanted something really bad as a kid? Well I grew up riding a 200s and a 110. I always wanted a 350x and I think it would be very hard to replace this one. This 350X was my dream bike as a kid and $2500 was really tempting

good choice if it is what you say.

I sold a 86 350x in similar condition as well as the nicest OEM 86 kxt ive seen to date about 9 years ago to pay for school. Im not one to regret things, but I havent seen a 350x or 86kxt as nice in person since.

no way dude, you did the right thing, now sell something else and get your R, then you have the best of both worlds, or atleast the experience to decide wether or not you want the R over the X. Personally, I did that, gave up the X for the R, Although I do love my R, I miss the X, I really miss the X, but I suppose you can't have everything. The R works much better for me now because of the water cooling. I can cruise with my son, and not have a heating issue like I had with my X. Plus, my dad has the X, so I can still ride it if I really wanted to Hahahahahaha

Second. I remember seeing a mint 350X on eBay for like $2300. Guy said it had less than 20 hours on it, too.

Your very nice X is only going to go down in value either riding it or storing it.

Take the $3k and buy something you won't worry about damaging when you ride it.

Get it gone. There is another clean one for sale by a member on the boards here up north for $1500 obo....

Just food for thought
