I don't even know where to start so this post might ramble a bit.
There's a growing problem on this site concerning people that can't follow simple rules. Not to mention just general rudeness. I'm not going to call anybody out publicly (although I'm sure some will draw attention to themselves all on their own). The only point to this thread is to try to get you all to think of the rules from a different perspective.
First of all, this is a privately owned web site. Freedom of speech does not apply to a privately owned web site. Where this idea that being moderated on a 3 wheeler forum is an infringement of your constitutional rights, I have no idea.
Secondly, you should all think of being a member of this site in the same way that you would relate to being a guest in someone's house because it's essentially the same thing.
When you go to a person's home, you are expected to behave in a cordial manner and follow whatever rules the homeowner sets forth. As an example, I had a friend that was married to a Korean woman who insisted people remove their shoes when coming in the house. I *HATE* taking off my shoes. I'm just weird about it. BUT, their house, their rules so I took off my shoes every time without a word about it spoken.
In the above situation, would any of you seriously not only refuse to take off your shoes, but stand on the furniture and argue with the guy and his wife about it? And for those of you who would stand on the furniture and complain, would you call them after you've been removed from the property and continue to complain about it? And THEN, after some time has elapsed and they give you another chance to come in their house, would you make snide, tongue in cheek comments about their rules at every oppurtunity?
That's exactly what a lot of people do around here and it's about to stop. If you can't handle the rules set forth by the person that OWNS this site and pays the bills, leave. Plain and simple. If you can't leave on your own accord, you will be removed for the greater good of the community.
If you just use a little common sense and NOT act like an idiot in someone else's house, you'll never have a problem here.
And before anybody says it, I'll go ahead and address this objection next.
"But I donated 3 bucks to this site 2 years ago! I can do whatever I want!"
Uhhh... no. I guarantee whatever amount somebody may have donated to help in operational expenses has been used up by that person many times over. That argument is like going to a party at someone's house that you don't really know all that well, not even being personally invited other than the common knowledge that anybody is welcome to show up, and saying "hey I brought a six pack! Thanks for having me!" and then drinking 7 beers, a few shots, eating a hamburger and a bag of pretzels. Don't even go there.
Here's another objection I'll handle for some of you just to save you some time.
"Well THAT guy is allowed to do such and such! How come I can't?!"
Yeah life sure ain't fair is it. I'll use another comparison to see if I can shed some light on this one for you.
YOU are having a party. Your trikes are out in the yard. One of your riding buddies hops on a trike and does a wheelie down the street. Some guy at the party that you've never met then tries to hop on a trike. You tell him no. He says "WTF MAN THAT GUY GET AWAY WITH WHATER HE WANTS WHY CAN'T I DO IT?! THIS IS BS MAN I'M GOING TO JUST DO IT WHEN YOU'RE NOT LOOKING AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME!!!"
That guy would probably get a broken nose from most of us.
Some people are going to be treated differently due to personal relationships just as it happens in real life. A lot of people on this forum are close friends in the real world. If you can't deal with that one either, click on that little red X in the upper right corner.
I personally don't even agree with ALL the rules myself but you know what? It isn't my house so I never say anything about it. The benefits this site affords all of us is worth the simple price of following some rules at the owner's request.
For those few people who don't understand any of this and are a general pain in the arse of the site owner and mod crew, don't be surpised to find your access taken away permanently and without warning very soon.
Next time any of you reading this gets angry or is tempted to make a rude post or whatever, go ride your trike and try to remember why we're all here first.

JK, I'm personally glad this subject was brought up and hopefully the person/s responsible for it being brought up see it and understand it.

I so agree. I have gotten sick of some of the crap that is now on this site. That is why I do not post as much as I use to or offer that much advice. I could easily go on about it but I have found it does no good.

I agree. Not a large contributer or long time member but check in everyday. This board had gone down hill somewhat. My brother and I were talking about this the other day. Several of the boards we visit are now infested with snide remarks, rudeness, and keyboard commandos. Thanks for making it aware. Perps prolly won't even look at this thread though.

I know it is tuff to avoid the ass hats out there so I sure it will be a huge challenge to get rid of them.

it will be a huge challenge to get rid of them.
No it won't.
Edit: I'd like to add one thing. I don't want to see anybody get banned. We all love 3 wheelers and that's what it's all about. However, we all need to act like adults. There's too much fighting, rude behavior, blatant breaking of rules, disrespecting the owner and mods in pm's etc going on and it's about to get stamped out. If everybody just follows some basic etiquette from this point forward we won't have to do anything at all.

It's about sometime somebody said something. This isn't my "house" but i am sure glad the owners let me visit and look around!

I have to ask: (deleted by mod so irrelevant)
Edited by Dammit: I'd rather not have anyone mentioned by name in this thread. Question asked and answered.
You could have merely deleted the name, not the entire question.
Thanks for the PM.
Answered yes, but bringing it out that persons post in the public was like the pot calling the kettle black. The mods need to play by the same rules if were gonna start somewhere...............

I know I havent been here long but I would like to say that I find most everyone here to be nice and helpful people. an example... A member here sent me a Clarke tank for the cost of SHIPPING, nothing More. Who does that??? That is one cool dude in my book.
I am a member of a Mi gun forum and the bickering and childish behavior is like a sickness over ther. I pay an annual fee to be a member there but it is so out of control that I think 3w will be getting my $25.
Anyway, Great site and keep up the good work. This is a nice site, gotta control the sickness before it spreads.
There are about 8 active mods and Admins on this site..
We are all in agreement on this..
Infractions will continue, but the tolerance for nasty argumentive replies is Done now..
If you get a infraction, consider that a warning..
If you would like to argue over the matter, you will find it wont get you anywhere...
There are a few folks that are being watched..And they should have a idea who they are.
If you want to put down another Member, The site, The mods...You may want to think twice.
So, before you hit the reply button, you better read and read again..And make sure you are getting your point across with out bashing someone.
The rules apply to all.
The reason this thread has started, is becuase there are certain members, that just dont get it.
They want to argue, complain, put snide moderator remarks in the signatures or a public post, cry they are gonna sue the site, finding any loophole within the rules to try to justify, their claim they were innocent and not deserving of a infraction..
It is stopping NOW..
You would LOL at some of the dumb arguments people like to put up with the mods, all over a infraction or warning..
I have seen 6 year olds take punishment better than some of these "Adult members"

Well I can pitch in some. On IGN we have bickering and arguing, but its not as bad as here, and whats sad is that how the board I mainly mod has this many posts;
4,563,148 Topics
59,725,250 Replies
This is in a 6 month span. Now just think, There are more than 6,000 members that are just in the free section. In a day I probably ban around 9-20 memebers for cursing, racism, pornography, bashing other members, and this is just a few reasons. I have seen topics here and the way people react and trust me, most other sites would be banning you for a week or 3 days at least, for some of the **** I have seen here. Rules are put in motion by websites so that nobody cracks down on them and shuts them down. For a moment back when IGN split the forums into PAID and FREE sections, it was like a war, people hacked, spammed, overloaded the boards with stupid ****, porno, flaming, bashing, and so much other crap our Mod count went from 10, to 80.
I have gone into threads were people are instantly calling others liars, or making fun of them, and starting stuff with others. Whats the point? If you have an issue, keep it to the damn PM's. Mods cannot see PM's on any site I have been at, thus the reason for it being private.
Lets all be a family =)

I used to be a mod at the shack so I feel your pain. I would love to have some of the tools here that I had there. It's being discussed but I don't know if the software can even do half of it.
Rest assured there's a good discussion going on the topic. We'll find a way to clean things up and make this place more enjoyable for everybody.

no matter what you do or say this site will always have "the ones" you ban them and they come back under a different name. if you don't like what someone is saying or what they want advice, don't respond to their post, instead send a PM to the mods to try to clean it up/remove. somethings are just funny though. can't be serious all the time. To all the new people around, USE THE SEARCH BLOCK! i have found it helpful. And to the trikers thats been around here a long time, Thanks for the site, advise and the hobby!!!

This topic just keeps coming up...... I havn't been around here very long so I can't say how far down hill this site has gone but I do know that I have made some "friends" that I never would have met if not for this site and I am learning alot by bieng a 3ww member. Trikefest has become something that I look forward to along with pensiltucky and ice racing at raffas. I try to keep my poking to a minimum and try to make more friends than enemies. THANK YOU for this site. it truly is a home away from home

I totally agree. the owners have put up with way too much from some users. I just don't understand the nerve of some people sometimes. It's crazy. They will use use use for their own ends, then burn all the bridges they can when the people being used get tired of it, then instead of a simple thank you and I'm sorry, they will want to argue and fight.
I say just hit the Ban button.

This thread is greatly appreciated, and reaffirms my thoughts on this site as a well moderated and helpfull one. As to the trouble makers, I guess I'm relatively new and haven't encountered anything genuinely rude or hostile. If this forum has gone down hill then I couldn't imagine how it was before. So far I have encountered nothing but people who are passionate about the sport and offer knowledge based on experience and research to help along their fellow riders. I am glad to know that there are people behind the scenes working to keep this relatively clean and organized.
Thank you,
Casey

This is not about any one person and if you would have read the thread before responding, you'd have seen that I do not wish anyone to be mentioned by name. That's simply going to cause more drama which is what we'd like to eliminate.
Are you talking to me? It's kinda hard to see what your talking about when you quote a post then say quote removed.

Thanks Casey,,,from all of us..
I wanna see people Fixing,Rideing,Breaking, jumping,Racing, selling,Tel ling and shareing storys of yester years gone by,,and the memorys that (We) create.still loveing them..
The intent of this thread, is a heads-up for certain people. It is not posted concerning any 1 incident or member.
It has come about because of a rash of negative people, and posts over the last 6-8 months.
As mentioned before, Those folks probably know who they are..
The thread is not intended, for debates about how the site is run, or to call out anyone by names.
The posts have been edited, to avoid arguments or bashing.
This thread is more about the people that are repeat offenders.
They recieve a infraction, some learn, and appologize, others argue over the infraction, and repeatedly, continue to get infractions.
(These people know who they are, and will find that the tolerance for their ways has run out)
We give these people warnings, via a infraction, vs, just a straight ban, and yet they dont head the warning.
The infractions will continue, as a polite warning.
If that edge is pushed, the recipients need to realize at that time, they got their warning, because there wont be 2 warnings.
If you get a infraction, you broke the rules plain and simple.
Look at it like this.
Consider it as being pulled over for speeding, but only given a warning vs. a ticket.
In that scenario, I am sure anyone would be happy driving away from a certain speeding ticket, with just a warning slip.
There are the few, that would choose to argue with the cop, until it escalates to a ticket, maybe even more.
We have a few of them people here!

Great site Great group of guys on here. Every site will have some bad mouthing and rudeness. Some people are raised diffrent and just dont know any better. This site is good because of all the people that are on it. It will be a shame is people have to start getting booted because they cant keep the nasty and pointless comments to themself.
Its simple! EVERYONE was warned and now lets make the changes to make this a site for both young and old. the young kids coming into riding trikes are going to keep this sport alive and also this website.
I think we could all shape up just for the respect to the person who started this site. RIP.

Thank you and you're exactly right.
We're discussing changing the way we do things a little bit. I have no idea how it will shake out at this point but just as some people need to adjust their behavior on here, I also think that we (the mods) can do a better job.
I really just wanted people to stop and think about message boards in general from a little different perspective. A lot of the problems you see on forums everywhere come down to a simple lack of respect. Not just for the site owners or mods or whatever but even for fellow members. I'd rather see a little more common sense and personal restraint being used than to just start banning people. Even some of these guys that are a constant pain in the backside have something useful to contribute. Their contributions do not always outweigh the drama they create however, so some people are gonna go away if they don't recognize what they're doing and correct it.

I see the rips, rude comments and the degrading of people all the time.Just last week some"member" got 3 pages insults for spray painting his 3 wheeler. Not that im the great american defender, but i stepped up and defended him becasue I thought it was wrong to tear the guy apart, was it right or my place to defend?Maybe, maybe not.I thought it was.Anyways I love this site, most member are great, have good know-how and willing to help someone out,but when a guy gets verbally asaulted for a personal choice thats just dumb. This site is for people who's passion is three wheeler, not for super critical people who have nothing to do but bash everything.Would I stand up for some again? I am a newbie here, and really don't have a clue as to the nature of the thread, but I can honestly say I have had nothing but great dealings from members here who know nothing about me-and treat me like a long standing member-Mikefromlongisland-Jeswinhart(spelled it wrong, but you know who you are),x systems,Mrs Mosh, the list is endless, everybody here has been such a help to me in my rebuilds, tech questions and I thank you all for it.
My 2 cents, rules are rules, abide by them, the site is so worth it, you have no idea what you got till it is gone---------

Im not sure who or what this thread is based on but i would like to say something in defense for everyone whos behavior has been a problem. We all have bad days. Some more than others. But in the end i bet we would still give the shirt off our back for the people on these forums. I know i would. I for one bashed the kid who spray bombed his 200x, the next day i was helping answer his questions about something......Its just a personal pet pieve of some of us not to spray paint a trike the way it was done. Should we have bashed him? Yes and no. Maybe in a more constructive way than some of us did, but it happens. Im sure theres alot more to this thread than what some of us know. Im sure its probably not about bashing him about his paint job......I just wanted to throw out that we do have bad days which should be taken into consideration if consequences should arise.
I know a bad day isnt an excuse for some of the things that has been going on but i just wanted to add my 2 cents. Love ya guys!

Hi Guys,
I've got to say that the site is great and all dealings I've had with everyone involved is superb. I've not seen much in the way of problems, not to say they don't exist though.
If I had a gripe at all, it would be that I have seen people flamed for bad english and poor grammer, but it's been missed that the site is global and they are often from other parts of the world and not primarily english speakers. Even I've had one little missunderstanding that was caused by a mix-up between UK english and US english!
A beautifully worded first post to this thread, I wish I could copy it to other forums I use.
All power to the mods!
Rob. (UK english!)
