Kick starting on my R

I dont get it sometimes my R when its cold will start up on 3rd or 2nd kick but then other times it takes like 6 kicks when its cold. But when its warmed up it always starts up on 1st kick whats that suppose to mean. Oh i just put a new coil ignition in it like 2-3 weeks ago so it can be that

sometimes it is just.....well many things how hard your kicking, the temperature, the humidity, alot of things affect your engine starting ;)

weak ignition or a little lean on the slow circuit can do that. What sort of plug gap are you running when its hot? What slow jet do you run?

Had to beg mine to start till I reworked the ignition system, then it would go on half a kick.

I had an rm 250 that did the same thing.had to get fresh fuel in the carb
before I started it,and it would fire up on 1 or2 kicks.

Are you using the choke when cold starting?

I would insure the carb is cleaned out. There are many little ports for junk to clog.

Also check that the jets are within reason and not someone elses attempt to increase performance with large jets.
