View Full Version : Tecate Rear Axel Cir Clips

I have 2 axels for a Tecate 3 1985 model. One is stock and one is an aftermarket +5 axel. Now the stock axel only needs 1 clip but the +5 axel needs 2. Problem is, is I only have 1. Contacted kawie and they no longer make them anymore. Has anyone made one or knows a substute for them?

^ One more vote for me! Mine also broke, so as an alternative I used two flat style circlips I bought from the local hardware store. By using two on the one groove, it took up the excess play, and is still holding together, but I would like to find some OEM ones.

I made one for my Tecate out of a spring.

basically a circlip is spring wire and made on a spring coiler. What about ones for T4? SBLT500 cut his own axle and installed them, maybe he would know?

on the 86 i used a stock c clip. they are the same as the t4.

the 84-85's use a smaller c clip, because the axle is a smaller diameter.

the 86 t3's and t4's are still availible new.

i could make the ring, but i would have to figure out how to make it springy. maybe just harden them?

Called every kawasaki dealership in Novs Scotia that would have sold them new trying to find NOS. Tons of calls later to hydrolics shops to bearing shops with nothing. Fianaly there is a fab shop that there phrase is "we do that" we will see. If I can get these made cheap anyone interested? And here is a clip that came off my "mysterious" +5 axel.

I agree these are quite common and should not be hard to find and someone is already making them. I just have not had a need to look. there is a special hardware store near me that stocks (or can order) all kinds of metric hardware and tools, i would have called there first.

Oh hey thanks. I was talking about the 86 and kinda forgot the original post for for an 85.

As far as making them "springy", this is why they are usually made of chrome-silicon spring wire.

Are they flat?The reason I ask is they similair to a Honda Pilot circlip for the axles that slide into the trans-they are readily available, do you need me to measure them for you?They are aslo used in the older Honda civic FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CARS IN THE MID 70'S AS WELL.MY ONLY THING IS, THESE ARE ROUND, YOURS APPEARS TO BE FLAT-MABYE IT CAN BE PRESSED?

No mine appears to be round. Part no. 43058-4002 I think there will be a market for these in the near future.

Update. I used a 86-87 tecate clip and cut some off and used channel lock to make it smaller.
