How do you torque the flywheel nut and keep the crank from not moving? Is using a piston stop the better way? Or just use a air tool and whale it on?

you dont need mutch ft pnds...on my tri z I use my motion pro, basket/sprocket holder. I take the sprocket holder part and put them in the two slots,on the flywheel,, and its enought to hold it,,
If I have the top end off, I use a long brass punch through the rod and eather position it infront or behind the jug studs.. depending if its going on or comeing off..
and OR a AIR WRENCH...
I use these, ideal for holding a flywheel -

You can make a homemade piston stop that screws into the head where the plug goes and rests on top of the piston. They make these for like weedeater engines, but im sure they wont work with bigger engines. On 4 strokes ill wedge a 3/8 extention in the cam gear or anywhere i can really without damaging things, on my t3 i just held the flywheel and was able to torque it to spec like that.
Easy way to make one would be to take an old spark plug that threads into that head, gut the porcelain, thread the inside of it, and find a long bolt that will thread into it. Screw it into the head, snug the bolt down finger tight and tighten the flywheel up.

I used an oil filter strap wrench to hold the flywheel and was able to get the required ft/lbs indicated in the shop manual.
