Any body ever have oil leak from case where the sprocket shaft is?f so is there a seal in there that require a case splitting?I have been tracking a oil leak on my 250r and it appears that the location it is leaking, is this a common problem with the 85 250r's?

no ,,, its not a common problem,, you can change the seat from the outside,, without splitting the cases

There Is also a o-ring under the seal collar that will allow oil to leak through the spline between the sprocket and shaft.

Yes, I'm sure It's still available. If not, other Honda dirtbike's use the same O-ring.

Almost every aftermarket seal kit I have bought for a R includes that little sprocket o-ring in it..
You can get the whole bottom end seal kit for about 40 bucks..

if you look under service honda's fiches, you will see that oring but it wont have a number next to it. it is listed under the gasket kit fiche and is a 16mm oring.

the honda oring is different than a normal oring...it has 2 tapered sides on it. I had a new one in my 250r motor and it leaked after a while. My Vesra complete kit came with one and ill be trying that one out next.

Here are the part numbers you need. I would do the oring and seal while you are there. Shipping is usually 9 bucks. A complete gasket kit ran me about 50 shipped for a vesra kit. They have cheaper ones but vesra or cometics are the ones i like to use.

Oring - 91201-430-003 $1.62
Seal - 91207-430-005 $7.57

You can probably look it up on the parts fische on Bikebandit.com and just buy it seperatly. Im sure your local honda dealer can order them for next to nohting though.

Looked it up on SERVICE HONDA parts fiche, got these #'s:

23225-430-000 22mm collar(figured I would replace it)
91201-430-003 o-ring 22 x 1.5
91207-ML3-003 Oil seal 28x40x8

These differ from yours, am I looking at the wrong fiche by chance? This is for a 85 motor are the 86's different by chance?I looked on BikeBandit.com-the parts fiche comes up but the part numbers doesn'tyou can't even select a part in fact- so I can't compare the numbers.

ordered the parts from SERVICE HONDA- with shipping it was 39 bucks!!
I ordered my 3 plus the seal you had listed there as well, can't hurt in case I need it on another ride-Mabye I should have just ordered a seal kit for the motor for that money.

nah you did right, the part numbers that differed just means one was superceded one way or another, thats all...

i myself need to order that 22mm oring, my gasket kit came with a 16mm oring which isnt right. The good thing is that this is all changable with the motor in frame
