not done yet still have to spray the black with 'black effects' clean the over spray off the headlight and forks... get green grips, mirror polish the fork tubes axle and tripple tree.....
yeah i know the old machines should be restored to there former glory.. but we gotta make some machines unique right?

no painted with a gun at a buddys garage, the black is standard black from automotive supply, with dupont clear, the green was a custom mix from them called grabber green, im guessing its semi popular around here seeing i have seen 4 cars a simmaler shade of green running around
i did have them mix up some extra green and put it in a spray can for touch ups ( chips and scratches are inevitable trail riding)

its not the color scheme thats all that bad its the fact you just went ballistic with paint and didnt take off anything, or mask anything off. overspray everywhere. looks like sh*t
Dammit!

sooo...... i should have waited untell tommrow to post pitures after i clean up the over spray??.. im not worried.. it will look 100% tommrow after work, it will be cleaned up, and polished up. ... had a long day today and just wanted to get it back home and in the garage before it started raining, hands and fingers hurt from sanding and scuffing, on it, and polishing stainless steel all day at work, other wise the over spray would be cleaned up,
It sucks detailing and 'restoring' collector cars all day every day, sanding, taping painting, polishing and so on.. makes you half ass your own stuff
i can admit that, i should have taped stuff more than i did, just total lack of ambition .. sorry
trust me it wil be cleaned up and looking proper after work tommorow

bike definetly should have been taken apart for painting. If you wanted to do it that color it would have\been better to be patient and buy the plastics in black, and powdercoat the frame and whatever other parts you needed. The Paint will not last on the plastic.

WTF you spray bombed a TRIKE?!?!??? No way......Congrats for making a complete headache for any future owners.....
Good luck making it look right as you said above........That will require disassembly of every part and sandblasting them, then powerdercoating. That spray bomb job wont last after the first ride.....

iv had good luck with the paints from this place before, i did a blaster earlyer this year with there stuff, only issue i had was riding wearing my chain wallet and the chain bouncing off the fender chiiped it, if i remember right they guy said he mixes some of the stuff they use for plastic and vynle paint in with it to help it hold up to the flexing,
i proced out black plastics, rears are 160 and front is 70. so as soon as i can il be ordering them and putting them on for a long lasting finish
and 85 tecate... read above... automotive paint spray threw a spray gun

the fact you may have used a quality paint doesnt matter. the bike is dirty and looking over the pics again there is overspray everywhere. i bet about half the frame is actually painted green. the other half is old paint and dirt most likely. your idea of 100% and mine are different. that was the most half-assed attempt at a "fresh look" ive ever seen. hopefully one day you do it right, or sell it to somebody who will.

well if it gets 'sold' it will be given to my wife and she wont do anything but maintain it and ride it. everyone is intitled to there opinion, wether its good or bad.
im sorry im not a ' purist' and keep machines they way they were made, being like everyone else is not who i am or ever be,
as for being done right, it will sit like this threw winter since it will be rode a few times a week all winter...
spring when i buy a new machine it will be stripped down and completely redone. i already talked to a buddy of mine and the frame should fit in his powder coat oven,

You really have to take your time and do these things the right way, especially when it comes to painting the frame. Unless you like your trike looking terrible your gonna have to take the whole bike apart and redo everything.

to be honest.. it looks like something a 14 year old redneck would do.. if he got ahold of daddy's paint cans. :w00t: Once you spend 4 days sanding that crap off those fenders.. you'll know why your getting your nuts busted so bad. ;)

Dude, it's your trike, color it with homemade camo spraypaint, or crayons for that matter, if you like. If you dig it and it gets you some fun, ignore these other guys. I have no "garage queens", just a bunch of trikes that I ride and enjoy.

Actually its a Ford color. It was offered on 1969-70 Mavericks and Mustangs.
I don't agree with painting plastic, especially since I bought a Big Red with orange fenders. The paint is an absolute B!TCH to get off, to the point that I might have to buy replacements to correct it.
But it is yours so you can do what you want with it.

Hey 4,I cant belive there are three pages of insults, that crap.If he likes it that's all that matters. It looks fine for a daily rider, and cost next to nothing to do.When has everyone become so critical,I thought 3ww was about the love of trikes.F.Y.I:I've seen some members on here bragging up there rides, and there rags,I mean real p.o.s the kind i would not bring in my shop, but they think there sweet.Whatever makes you happy. When i came on here and saw 3 pages of rips I just had to throw in my 2 cents.

The difference is, these people spend countless hours and money fixing up this "crap" and restoring it back to what its supposed to be like......Not a spray bomb job. Anyone who paints their bikes without thourougly cleaning/sanding/blasting or stripping the parts with everything in tact is a complete and utter idiot in my opinion. You're right, its his, but it looks like trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro and is degrading to those of us who spend the time and money to actually save these precious machines. Go buy a junk 4 wheeler and spray bomb it if you want to paint something.....
This thread makes me sick - i'm done with it.

Degrading?Do you really think he painted his bike to degrade you.Yes alot of members on here do just as you say, myself included, countless hour on there rides to bring them back from the dead, cause it our passion(were slappy's).However there are some that just want to ride and enjoy there trike restoration is not a issue. To come on here a tear this guy apart for painting a bike is boarder line retarded, and to say it looks like trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro, who the f**k are you to judge, and who gives a f**k what people think.THE BOTTOM LINE IT'S NOT YOUR AND IT NEVER WILL BE.

Hey ATCTIM,that bike is stunning, awesome, sweet. You put a ton of time, effort and money in that.Thats fine, but not ever one wants a showbike, would you lrt me take that out and beat it for a day or two,HELL NO YOU WOULD'NT ,but i would bet the other guy would.Maybe the guy dont have the time or money,I hope your getting my point,i'm not trying to cause problems, but it just rubs me the wrong way.
Regardless,
This is a perfect case in point where, if you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all.

I'll agree to that too, It's his trike If he wants to spray-bomb it, so be it...
If you don't like it, then don't say anything and don't try to buy it if / when he sells it. Just my .02
Not my favorite option, but it does look good.
Nice job

Wow 3 pages of useless insults. Not to sound like a kindergarten teacher but everyone has their idea of what's cool and what's ugly. Personally I'm glad we have people with creative minds, hell you should see some of 4cfeds other whips. They are unique for sure.. 4cfed, I'm garett1955 over on WSD. Anyhow, post up some pic's when the over spray is whipped off and she's finished. I bet it looks good.

1st off - that is not my bike. Secondly - the guy that owns it rides the heck out of it - I have seen mud on it personally - yes mud!!!!!!! I was just conveying that this is what it looks like if you take your time, like taping things off, and pulling the motor out before painting the frame. More of a comparison to show him what can be accomplished. He said he was shooting for the "Monster" theme. I was not degrading him, nor was I saying what he did was wrong.
You mention that it rubs you the wrong way how people are taking down on him. That is fine - but if you want to butter it all up for the thin skinned on here then what about all those people he has rubbed the wrong for doing this type of thing??? What then?? People are simply stating their opinion. yes - some of the comments are a bit harsh - but for a guy who "restores" cars for a living - I think we all expected something a little better.
I for one will take countless hours taking a frame down and painting it up nice - then I go ride it. If it is a matter of that - and he doesn't care that much - and as he has stated - he did it halfassed - then why even take the time to do it at all?
My Grandma always said "if it's worth doing, then it's worth doing right."
