just noticed a clunk on decel on my 225dx What is it?

didnt notice it before today, checked the valve clearance and did not have to change anything it was perfect. I also removed and cleaned out the carb. It runs better than ever but now I notice a clunk whenever you crack the throttle and immediately let off it sounds like someone taps the engine case with a screw driver. kind of a tap clunk noise. It only does it one clunk tap every time you let off the throttle. Anyone ever heard of this

Start by checking the u-joint (I think Yamaha calls it a cross joint).

i actually only notice it when in neutral

Guess that rules out the u-joint.

I noticed pretty much the same thing on my yt125. Totally different machine but it was the gas in it. Changed out the gas and sound went away. dont know if that helps ya or not......

you know I did just put gas in the tank for the first time since I bought it right before this happened. Maybe I will run this tank and try some different fuel.
