I just picked up 2 maxxis mud bogs real cheap, they are 28x10x12. If I get the rims to fit, y'all think I can squeeze 28" tires under the big red?

it definitely can be done a board member "skiffy" put much larger tires on his big red. how ever i can't say your differential will live a long life

differential would last longer would last longer if you found the lightest 28 inch tires and used aluminum rims. but till then use a heavier differential oil and change it more often than normal.

my diff is full of axle grease, there was a shop near baton rouge, la called t-racks that put grease fittings everywhere! i have debate for awhile of removing it with some diesel or something...

I dont have 28" tires on miy 87 but I have 12" rims on mine with like 26.5-27 and they are nice and big. I bought them at rockymountain atv.

I have 27 inch zillas on the rear of mine. I love them! I feel I could maybe fit 29 or 30's with the 1.5 lift I put on it. I bet if you adjusted your shock witth the higher/stiffer setting they would fit with minor rubbing. One way to find out. Mount them on there.

I've NEVER seen a Honda diff strip the gears, even ones with completely cooked bearings, so have at it :beer

I think you are correct dirtcrasher, as 90% of the times its the bearings that get trashed before the gears and therefore wouldnt allow the gears to move to get messed up. Now I am sure it could happen but rarely. I would think the hubs would be the first problem child with having much larger tires and putting more stress on parts.

I would go with spacers if you are going up that much in tire size. Mine are 1.5 inches.

i got a quick question, woul it be safe to run 25-12.5-11 mud lite xl on a 200 big red or would it be to much stress on the drive train.

it would be fine, just avoid mudding in high gear

I have! Just last year on a 250sx 4 teeth were missing due to bushings/bearings out of it.

There are guys on high lifter running 30 inch gorilla silverbacks on hopped up honda 300's. If I am not mistaking they run an almost identical rear end. I know they do swap in the bid red axles into their rigs for some reason. IDK

ive seen quite a few bigred rear ends go mostly from bearings but a few were striped with a pound of shavings on the bottom.. use a good oil and change it often.
