Check your fuel valve (petcock), it may be plugged.

now i never thought of that someolne else said that the carb could be flooding out could this be the problem and some aslo told me that it could be the coil

If theres crap built up in the petcock, then you should clean the carb also, it may have some of that junk in there. I would do that first before you check the coil.

When it dies, crack the bowl drain screw on the carb immediately. If fuel runs out continuously, supply isn't likely the problem. Can't hurt to clean the petcock though, regardless.

Check the gas cap vent.

Yes, try running the trike without the gas cap first and see what happens, much easier and cheaper to try first than carb rebuild. Start with cheap and simple checks and work your way up to more expensive and more work intensive checks.

ok sounds good ............so if the carb kit is new and the pit is clean and the cap is off the tank and it still wont stay running what than ..................... the reason i ask is because i tried all of this and still nothing its like it is starving for gas when and if it starts

So if the gas cap is working and the petcock is not clogged and it dies due to lack of fuel it must be a carb issue.....

see i put a 500cc xr motor in the bike with a carb from a 400 forman and it was running fine so i had to screw with it a took the old gas tank off because it was dented badly and put one in it from a forman and thats when i decided to put a new carb kit in it and since i put the diff gas tank on it and the carb it has been acting up

Could be the carb floats adjusted wrong. I'll try to explain how to adjust them hopefully someone else will be able to explain it better. K so take the carb off the bike and then pull the bowl off. Make sure to pay attention to everything so you can put it back together correctly. Next hold the carb sideways or horizontally and see what position your floats are in when they contact your fuel shut off valve ( make sure the valve is completely inside the fuel intake port. You will want the float tab to just barely compress the shut off valve needle. Don't know the name of it but its the little nipple piece on the shut off valve. Its spring loaded on a small scale.) You want the the floats to contact the shut off valve at a 90 degree angle. Or so the floats are perfectly vertical to your carb which is being held horizontally. If the floats make contact with the shut off valve before 90 degrees or after 90 degrees ( don't worry if you cant get it perfect you have room to be off) you will run out of gas or flood out after a while. To change the angle of contact with your floats you bend the tab the fuel shutoff valve hangs on. You wont have to bend it much so don't get to aggressive. I read over this and it sounds like it could be confusing. I bet someone else will be able to explain it better. Hope it helps

Carbs are pricky. Check that your fuel line isn't bent or runing up hill!
