Ok heres the deal, I talked with the Rich Daly the owner of Dyno Port. He is willing to take a trike and remake a new cone pipe an silencer for them. I live all the way out here in WA so getting mine out to NY wouldnt be cost effective. If anyone on here lives in NY and would be willing to take there trike to him in the spring for a few days. The pipes would run $350 if he builds 5 or more silencers start at 110-140 depending on the routing. I have both a Tri-Z and a 1985 250R, if anyone else would like pipes for these machines let me know. Plus I still need someone that lives in NY to confirm they would be able to get there trike to him. Thanks guys just let me know what you think.:beer

Rich made the pipe for my CR500 powered 250R back in the early 90's. They do fantastic work and if I ever get off my arse I'll have them make one that is properly sized for the 330cc kitted 250R I have now.

Im pretty sure there are enough people on here that would buy up the pipes we could just get a couple machines to him. He is booked up untill spring so there is plenty of time to make comitments slash find a few machines to take to him.

I've got a 330 that needs a pipe for my 250R. Maybe we can have 2 made and save a little chedda??

I might be up for that and I'd bet that ChrisD. would be interested in it too. I'd like to do the full deal, pipe and silencer. When he did my 500R I wanted to use the aftermarket 250R silencer I already had but he said it was too small for the 500 and I'd bet that its marginal for the 330 at best. If you get some sort of price work up from him for the pipe and silencer just let me know via PM and I'll find a way to afford it.

I'll get a quote for 3 pipes and silencers.

I got a Pipe builder here locally that builds pipes, 275 for a pipe 75 for a silencer.

If you want to see his work search for Thunder Alley. He will also copy pipes.

Im looking to have him make an inframe drag pipe that is a copy of an ESR Trx11 inframe drag pipe just for the ATC.

He did this pipe for my 400ex Cr500 conversion.

I'm almost finished with the 2 R's I'm working on. Next week I'll be starting my 330 build/transplant. I spoke to Rich and said he would build me a pipe and silencer in a day. It really shouldn't take me too long to swap engines and clean things up a bit. I'm not concerned about getting it running. Just first to get the pipe then everything else falls into place. I'll be heading to his shop soon. Who's in for a pipe?

Lets take a pole and see who all is willing to buy one out of a 5 pipe and silencer run. Im not in a huge hurry right at the moment either. Just keep me posted on your status with getting your bike to him. Only thing is Im not running a big bore engine so I hope his pipe will still work running a high compression ported engine.

The thing with a 2 stroke pipe is that its got to be sized and shaped for the CC's of the engine and the RPM range you're looking to make power in. You're probably better off running a properly sized pipe for the 250 that you have just like those of us with big bores are better off with pipes properly sized for the engines we have. I would be willing and able to send a deposit to Rich whenever he's ready for one.

Freaks,

I doubt you'd be without your R for weeks. When he built the one for my 500R he built it while I waited. When I got there in the AM he had nothing but sheets of steel and by that evening I was driving home with a custom built pipe and silencer.

I understand the way the 2 stroke engine works I have built many of them. Every one can run alittle different depending on the port timing. My 03 KX250 ran the best with a stock pipe and PC silencer. That bike out pulled all the modern 450's at the time. It was a FT converted piston and head with a long rod crank and custom made dual stage CF reeds. As far as the pipes go look at CPI pipes for example. They dont work that great on a stock banshee, the power is up to high in the rpm range cause the engine cant produce enough backwave pressure in stock form. On the other hand you run them on a ported motor with a head mod or cool head to raise the compression they work awsome. So I would be willing to take my chances with the pipe even if its for a 330. Hell whats the worst that could happen I end up having to go big bore... lol oh well chance Im willing to take.
