Ok some guy is selling his 1983 250r, he says it runs really strong and starts on the 3rd kick. He said it is in good shape and all it needs is a front brake reservoir. He's asking $350 Should i jump on this? how much do the reservoir's cost? Don't really know how much these go for?

Sounds like a steal even if it needs some parts. You can use many different styles/years resivors so dont sweat it, theyre cheap. Jump on it.

i think you should buy it and bring it home and completely tear it down and restore it then put it in the corner of your garage lol ..... if that r really does run strong and shift through all the gears then the motor is worth the asking price

I probably should have passed, turns out 2nd gear shift fork is probably bent. But it does run good, and like the above post, 2nd gear is over rated. I had a used res for the front brake, found it after I ordered a new one. So the front brake works fine. Spent 2 hours at DMV getting a title for the trike. But at least now I can get a off road sticker to go with the plate.
On a side note... Note to self. NEVER BUY A ATC WITHOUT A TITLE!! I feel better now. In arizona the minimum bond is now $100.
So $350 for the trike
$12 for the plate
$100 for the bond
no 2nd gear
$462 total

Don't know about the rest of the guys on here, but you got a good deal!:w00t: In the pic's that you provided folks would be asking $700, some that don't think people on 3WW know about 3 wheelers test the waters with asking $1000+ . I was stationed out in AZ just 2 years ago (Glendale, Phoenix) and never needed a off road title, have things changed? If so my buddies still don't have them and they have new ATV's

new rules on off road stickers. They say its not really enforced yet, (500 dollar fine), but with the state hurting for money, you know its going to happen. Plus if someone wants to take it to mexico and bring it back, you need papers. I threw a couple ads on craigslist to see if I can swap a 110 atc for a good motor with trans. I also threw this one up for 600 obo. I figure im into it for 462 bucks plus the new res. and o ring was another 30 bucks. plus 2 hours at dmv. Hopefully I can find a motor, Id rather just find something I can bolt in and keep it. jim
ROFL @ Jim Nac! When you said you 'bought it' I thought you were just taking the piss on that other guy. Haha.
Good score man - you snooze you lose I guess!

actually it was advertised on craigslist. I just happened to see it the night before and figured for 350 bucks I couldnt go wrong, even with the bad 2nd gear. The owner emailed me in the AM and I was able to go and get it in the morning, (having a ID card to get on base helps) jim

AZ.45, Did you check out the 81/2 250R for sale on craigslist? Guys asking 300 for it and sounds like he's willing to deal. The trike isnt bad except for the fact that 2nd gear is missing.
Are you only looking for a larger trike? There was a 200X project for 250 the other day. Ive got a fairly clean running 110 I'd let go fairly cheap. Ive got a front fender coming from 200Xman. this things got good tires, missing headlight. Jim

Nice buy! OLDSCHOOL is the way to go. SO easy to work on. So long lasting.
I bought my 82' R 7 years ago for 200. I rode it for 7 years not a problem. I recently put a new wiseco.

My brothers 81' R had a 53 rear sprocket and 17 front, when he bought it from some sand dragger from back in the day. He could barely start moving in 1st. He then blew out 2nd gear. Damn that sprocket is big.

The guy had the timing so advanced for dragging it ripped the copper head gasket and BLEW it out in pieces LOL. I will never see that again probably.
I was funny we put RED gasket sealer only and it lasted for 15 minutes hauling ass up a steep hill.

He had the timing advanced on his 1981 250R huh? With a 17 tooth front and 53 tooth rear sprocket combo?
Please, give us more details of this superfooler!
Walked into garage and stared at the paddles and dreamed that I had nobbies
to ride on the street. I then started it and stuck my face in front of the exaust and fantasized
Never mind - it all makes sense now.

I guess he used to drag it in stadiums. I think he changed crank balancers. He did some crazy sh=t. I wouldn't have believed it either. I still have the bottom end, It is going to be exciting opening it up, huh. I guess he wanted the rear wheel to be going a million miles an hour. It had better roost at low speeds. I just sold a race coil from 81'. I sold it just to talk to other trike lovers.
It took us SO long to figure it out.
