I just got my '85 200x this past Sunday. She runs great when I get her started. It takes about 10-15 kicks to get her started. I turn the fuek line ON, I put the choke all the way up (which I think is full choke?), I move the switch over to RUN, and I get to kickin'. I wanted to know what I can do to get her started in like 2 or 3 kicks? I looked at the air filter and it looks like it could use a new one? I wanted to know if I could re-use the one I have on it right now, rather then go out and buy a new one? I will attach a pic of it and let me know if its re-usable. I took her out for a ride last night and after 4-5 minutes into the ride I speed up to switch into 3rd gear, as I switch into 3rd it seemed like it wanted to stall? Sort of like it was getting enough gas? Is it because I was running it on full choke? Do I need to switch the choke to half choke or no choke after I warm her up , or keep it on full choke? Although she didnt stall on me, I just switched back down to 2nd gear and kept cruising. I was riding it on Sunday afternoon haulin' trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro up and down everywhere without no problem, what could it be? Is there anything else I could do to get my 200x started quicker and run smoother? Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

Have you tried adjusting the valves to get it to start easier?

Take the choke off after it warms up.

I have an 85 200x, so I can offer some insight for you.
When starting, always try to get the kicker all the way to the top before kicking.
Put the choke "up". Mine takes a good 5 -10 kicks before it fires. After it is warm
put the choke all the way "down".
The air cleaners are re-useable, but they do rot away after a while. Pull it off and
wash it in a bucket of water and dish soap. Let it dry, and make sure to oil it with
air cleaner oil.

She takes about 5-10 kicks to get started when she is cold, after I've been riding her for a good 10-15 minutes, it takes about 1 or 2 kicks. I will have to clean the air filter out and maybe try adjust the valves, is that hard to do? Like I said I don't know very much about 3 wheelers? Oh and thanks for all the info on the choke questions, Thanks everyone who replied!

Like everyone else is saying check the valves (my honda mechanic said they 200x's can be very difficult to start if the valves are too tight) and clean your air filter. Mine almost always starts in 2-3 kicks with the choke off.....Not always though.

if you dont know how to do this job, dont do it yourself.pay someone who knows.its not hard but the effects on a wrong adjustment can ruin the head.
