Every time I go to make something up I end up grabbing too much and just give up. I need to look at the whole picture and think of what is most likely to go wrong and the tools I would need.

ive got a 50cc pitbike that i made. the thing weighs about 40 lbs, so i just strap it on the rack if im going on a super long ride. push the trike into the brush and zip home before it gets too dark.

Just a plug wrench and some spares for R. I have towed my R out of the woods with the rear tires on the back rack of a 250 big red. Looked odd but saved a lot of walking...

I carry most all of what everyone has listed. I keep the tools in a set of saddlebags across the tank. Most of the time it's not my machine that breaks; I've met a few people who were very thrilled when I had tools with me!

I also carry;

Spare head light bulb,

Spare tail light bulb; I don't actually carry these anymore, I swapped LED's into my taillight and have been good since.

Small wire brush; it's light and doesn't take any room up. Great for cleaning battery terminals, electrical connections and fouled spark plugs.

1/8 inch drill bit; doesn't even have to be sharp. If I break plastics I can make holes to stitch them back together with zip ties. A fine hole can be made by just holding the bit with vise-grips and twisting.

Stainless steel safety wire; strong, won't melt, easy to use, millions of uses.

Towrope; about twelve feet long. Good for other things too...

That is a well equipped kit - I am going to try to find one of those. I usually take exactly one tool less than I needed.

I have very limited space on my trail machine (ATC110 toolbox on a 350X).
It only has room for plug, plug wrench, screwdriver, zip ties, pack of smokes, and lighter.

I gotta try to cram a set of small vice grips and/or sidecutters in there too. We really needed them Saturday night when an axle got heavily wrapped with a bunch of wire (old couch springs?).

To help narrow your search, its in the hunting section and is made by remington. Also, a leatherman as we all know is 20 tools in one.

I carry the following in my backpack:
first aid kit
philips and flat head screw driver
17mm wrench (for taking off the fuel bowl) (also fits tecate rear carrier adjustment bolts
snus pouches tin full of jets, needles, pilot jets
1/4 ratchet with 1/4 or 6mm socket (fits jets and bits) and 8, 10mm sockets
bit that fits the allen bolts in the 250r swingarm
vice grips
pliers
water
fix a flat
valve stems
master link and chain breaker
3/8 ratchet with extension and 14 and 17mm socket
ratcheting plug wrench and br8 and br9 plugs

So basically if I get a flat, wheels get loose, chain problems, jetting, thirsty or radiator boils over I am covered. Now I added these by experience, it was just a hydration pack that I took my plugs and jettig tools in, but these season alone I have added the rest from problems at the dunes.

I do not take a tow rope, because I am usually at the dunes, with a few others, and the last thing I wanna do is try to tow them with my bike. If something needs towed we go find the appropriate bike to do it.

Vice grips clamped to my grab bar, and a new sparkplug in my buddies factory toolbox on his trike. Also have some tire plugs and a miniature philips and flat screwdriver in the box.

Vice grips work well for spark plugs on 2 smokes :D

Edit* Tie down strap looped around his rear grab bar incase we run into problems or get stuck.
