I just bought a 85 Z250 for $250. It needs a little help. Could someone tell me if the 85&86 parts are all interchangable. Most of the stuf I've found is for the 86 model year. The plastic is all good w/stickers. I front and rear brake calipers, right footpeg and a right fork.
Thanks

Almost everything is interchangeable with the exception of the forks. The 86 has a 6 speed gearbox, but even the 86 gear trains will interchange with the 85 cases.

Thanks, that will make my search much easier. Do you happen to know what the stock rear tire size is? This thing has huge wooly bugers on them and they have to go. I had a few ATC's back in the mid 80's and this is my first one since selling all in '92. I'll try to get a pic up on here before I do anything to it. Looks like it hasn't had a bath in years but a quick spit polish in a few areas reveiled a little shine. It was slatted to be parted out but since all the plastic is good, all lights work, stock pipe is all intact w/o rust or dents and no rust anywhere for that matter plus it fired right up and ran good. The ride wasn't fun with a bent right fork though and no brakes. Oh, and what the heck is the red light for on the top of the plastic headlight mount?
Glad to find this site, there appears to be a ton of info here.

I might have a right fork for sale. PM me if interested.

Stock 85 rears were 22x11x8, and the 86 was 21x11x9 I believe. The red light on top of the headlight is an over heat indicator.
