Boss gave me the day off work today so I finally got around to installing the new remanufactured OEM front brake line for my '86 Honda 350X that I purchased from Mike at Vintage Motorsports. The quality of this item is awesome. Sure beats the old funcky looking brake line with the decaying silicone boot and faded sheathing. Here's a couple pics of my ride with the new line.

Dammit...you're right! I've got some NOS tie straps I bought from bike bandit, im gonna walk out to the garage right now and investigate the situation. And no resevoir guard because that was not a Honda accessory.

Ok, found the tie-strap and put it on. I hope this redeams myself and restores some of my dignity. Notice the old school 3wheeling sticker on the shelf in the back of the shop. I sent my sase and 3.00 for those about 25 years ago.

Yea my 85 350x had a resevoir guard and I took it off...it got in the way of the throttle. But mine is all yellow and cracking on my 350x and can't find this on the site? I need a new one.

You guys are crying about $95 dollars?

Do you realize the research and tooling to make something like this? It isn't cheap.

Very little to none most likely? They probably looked at an OEM one, measured the tubing for length and diameter and said ok we need this long and this width tubing and the attachment for the reservoir.

Yeah cause you can go to Tom & Dicks Auto parts and buy all this stuff and build your own for $10 dollars right?

Seriously a guy that does restoration work for HONDA most likely has stout connections and knows who to talk to. You can just go out an make these yourself. Be thankful that someone with this knowledge is lending it to us. You could just pay ridiculous prices. I think its awfully fair. So prove me wrong bud :welcome:

^ I can agree with the "lack of tooling involved", however; An average aftermarket SS braided line is 65$ and upwards.....

These lines have the cover at the master and the tubing itself. Do you have any idea how many types of poly/vinyl tubing I tried to get it to bend? There are ID's, OD's, wall thicknesses and the material in itself plays a huge roll.

The line in that auction, doesn't look as stock as the VMS line does. Still looks good, but not as good as Mike's or maybe it's the picture......

The line on the 350X looks to be made extremely well, along the lines of OEM and as close to the original as they could get. It's well worth 100$ IMO.............

This is the problem, the allot of you guys just want a POS trike you can beat the snot out of because you paid short money for it. You want these items many of us can reproduce, but don't want to take into consideration the persons time and tools and research it took to get it done.

I get emails weekly for the few things I do and I send back prices and never hear back from people. The LEAST they could do is say "I was hoping it would be a bit cheaper, I can't afford that or don't want to put that much into my trike right now"

Does it matter that it includes materials, oxy/acet, mig welding, tube bending??

Instead, people are just ignorant.................................

No one is gonna get rich off of this brake line and were lucky to have it offered.

Oh I think the price is totally fair and plan on buying on for my 350x but that doesn't change the fact that I think it didn't take much to "design" as they didn't design anything it already was designed by honda 25 years ago.

thanks guys for the kind words on the 350x front brake hose . those of you who really know what it takes to replicate a oem parts can truley understand the research that goes into this stuff. I love the guy who says you can just go out and buy all that stuff and make one . buddy you have no idea , I had the original oem supplier for honda make these hoses for me but I had to supply them with all the different parts that make up the hose from top to bottom even the banjo fittings they use now are clear zinc plated and i had to have a batch of 1000 replated to the oem OD green/ black color. I had to have tooling made to injection mold the upper silicon banjo fitting cover that cost me $1500 by itself plus a per unit cost and a minimum of 300 pieces . this stuff is not cheap but I felt as a leading supplier now of high quality ATC reproduction parts that these hoses needed to be done we also had the 250r hoses done for my buddy carey at competition powersports , I sold out last week and will have more in this week for sale and will have my shopping cart up on the site with tons of nos atc parts real soon , thanks beerside great pics !!! Just so you know I wasn't talking about your product, I was talking about one that was on eBay. I want to buy yours but can't find it! And for the record I also never said I or any regular person could just go buy the stuff in the store and make it. I simply said no one re-invented the wheel on it, the other guy made it out to be some whole new technology that was almost untouchable.

here is a link to the 350x front line on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120480595242

the one that is linked on here is the 85-86 ATC250r front line totally different than the 350x as far as length and how its layed out , we built these lines as well they are done the same as the 350x lines but to the oem 250r specs . we did these for carey at competition powersports good friend of mine he does all 250r stuff .

this is the last line I have till my next batch is done should be here this week or begining of next

thanks Mike

Cheers Mike!

I to know the mean at which it is to replicate something that can no longer be had. Way to set the bar with your products! Looks fantastic.

I have noticed that not only honda but yamaha as well when i do order availible fastners that some are plated in the original "green" plating we are looking for and others are merely zinc? Whats up with that?
