185s running too lean???

Hey guys I got a question about my 185, if it is warmed up and you give it some gas and let off sometimes the engine will race like i'm still holding the throttle open a little bit. If I leave it race it will go back to idle after about 30 seconds or so. To slow it down, like to put it in gear I just hit the choke for a moment. I have dealt with this for awhile and am kind of sick of it. The carb boot does not have any cracks in it, the throttle cable is returning like normal and I put a carb rebuild kit in it a few months ago and no change, also the carb kit I got had 2 main jets included with it and I installed the larger of the two because it has a uni air filter.

You have looked all over for air leaks? Did it do this before you took the carb off?

Some of those rebuild kits are messed up. The needles don't seat right. Try your old needle. Is your air screw adjusted right?That will make your idle drop slow. Good luck Beets
