New here, just bought my trike a few days ago.
I took it for a ride on the weekend, and wanted to clock it beside my quad and it only got at about 58km/h. I was only about half throttle, and it would go fine, but then i hit the throttle it would just rev out, like it shifted itself into neutral. Once I let off the gas and go back on slowly it will go again, but once i get passes about half throttle it keeps revving out. It does this sometimes in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. I tried going on the gas slowly, I can feel it slowly gaining speed, but once it hits that spot it revs out like its in neutral.
Help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in Advance,
Cheers

How can I fix this? Do I need new clutch plates? I got a tri-moto 125 parts bike also, but most parts on it don't fit the 175.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Welcome to the board.
You could try adjusting the clutch first, to see if that helps.

Welcome to the boards and try adjusting the clutch by removing the small side cover, then the Haynes repair manual says to adjust the clutch by adjusting the release mechanism by tightening the inner nut until the bolt can't be turned with your fingers but has no thrust play (in-and-out). Tighten the outer nut against the inner nut . If the bolt is too loose, the clutch will drag. If it is too tight, the clutch will slip and if that don't work I would replace the clutch disks.
If you need a manual here is where I got mine.

So I adjusted the clutch, went for a ride yesterday and it's still slipping. Also came up with another problem. This same thing happened 2 weekends ago when I was riding, passed my buddy on his Honda 110 ATC, in 5th gear pretty much as fast as I can go before it slips, and my trike starting to sputter and bog down then die. Fouled a plug, changed it and it ran. Yesterday, almost the same thing, he went by me while I was playing in some puddles, and I went onto the road, starting to catch up and pass him, when it did this again. My trike started to bog and sput, so I shifted down to 1st gear, still sputtering and barely moving, then went into neautral revved a bit and was just sputtering barely even running. Then when still in first gear, it went back to normal, running right no sputtering. But once I went to pick up speed again, got to third gear and it started to do it again, so just putted in 2nd home. Next morning, went out to start it, pulled many many times, changed the plug, and just wouldn't go. Normally it would take a few pulls with the choke, and it would fire right up. After trying many many times, it went a few times, just started for a couple seconds, then died. Also, while pulling many times, my pull cord snapped, put another one in, and it broke also. And my rewind spring is done too, will just take the one out from my parts trike.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Whens the last time you checked the compression and is your slide jet needle and pilot air screw set to stock settings, the setting on the slide jet needle is third e-clip notch from top and set the pilot air screw 1 1/2 turns from closed.

Have you checked for dirt in your tank or your carb. If you petcock filter is clogged up or your carb is full of dirt, it could cause you to have fuel starvation. Make sure your air filter is nice and clean too. If you're not running an air filter, You may have sucked in a bunch of dirt or dirty water.

Got the trike out again, and want to get it going now to ride, snow is going away... I'm taking off the carb now and going to give it a good clean. When I bought it, it didnt have a air filter, nor air box cover, so I made my own. The choke is also frozen stiff now. But once I get it going again, I'd really like to fix the clutch problem so I can see what its got. Do you think I'll need to replace the clutch disks? and where could I find these? and how much roughly would it cost?
Thanks Alot!

If you tried to adjust the clutch and it did not help then I would try changing the clutch discs, try looking on Dennis Kirk or vesrah for clutch disc and if you need any more help let me know.
Here's a link to vesrah and Dennis kirk.
