I went riding today at my local spot (Divide Peak) which has some pretty good hill climbs through out it and my 200x just doesn't seem to do it for me. I weigh about 200lbs and am 6ft tall and I have to pretty much approach the hill slowly and pin it and stay WOT in 1st gear to get up them or approach it at the top of 2nd and stay pinned.....I am very very tempted to just sell all my 200x stuff and upgrade to a 350x, what do you guys thing? I don't go to the dunes and pretty much just trail ride but like I said our local trails have huge hills and climbs.

200lbs is a bit much for a 200X. You';d be far better suited for a 350X in hill and trail riding. I'd keep my weight at 180lbs and under for a mostly stock 200X.....

However, the hills we climb were approaching at 3rd or 4th gear at high revs and then dropping down one gear at the top if needed.

I have a 250sx I use and I find it does the job well. I am at about 200-210lbs and it seems to get'er'done. a 350x would be nice, but they are not common in my neck of the woods

By asking the question, you already know the answer. Get a 350X and up the fun factor! It will turn these hills into child's play and you'll find yourself climbing bigger hills that you never even considered on the 200.
Good luck!

Get a 2 stroke! Im well over 300 and ride a stock tecate up some major hills. Hard part is keeping the wheel down!

^ lol, well you can et a ton of pwoer out fo a 200x if you spend a lotta $ and if your not into tweaking it, then yea sell your 200x and get a 350x. I know a lot about the 4-stroker stuff so I tend to tinker and just love tweaking and hipoing stuff, but again not everyone knows or does. i spend over $800 ont he top end alone on my 200e, but she sure does scoot now! i can climb some very serious hills with my 195lb butt no problems!!!!! and that's doing it slow or stopped speed at the bottom and just gently tapping the throttle.

I am 240#'s and ride a 86 200x. You can change your sprocket combo and get differant gearing to suit your riding style. A pipe and filter upgrade make a big differance but porting and valve work make the biggest on the early 200x's. If you can find a 350x go for it, but good luck finding one. I know I can't.

my 84 200x has a dg pipe and a slight sprocket combo, 300ex hubs, and I ride with a buddy who has a 350x and some real ball's and never had a problem with power. Gotta pick your lines a little better with the smaller trike but have never had a power issue?? I am sure of the more balls theory cause I have rode both, but my 2hundy is pretty stable and lacks no power with me at 220lbs??? Momentum is the key on the hill's, look at the 2 stroke hill climbers.......... would like to get a 350 someday, just real happy with my lightweight right now. Good luck and happy ya got a 350....... piece of history!! Congrats and keep us posted...... just my 2 cent's brother.........
