I have a 1985 250 ES, it has been sitting for the last 2 years and i decided to get it running. Everything has gone well except when i decided to take the forks off and rebuild them. i loosened up the four nuts on the right side fork and then took a breaker bar and snapped the axle at the threads on the other side. Does anyone have any ideas as to what i should do

thats def doesnt sound good. what i would do is get it on a bench where u can work on it easy. go buy if you dont allready have a nice set of easy outs and some drill bits to match them (left handed bits are best but not toally needed) then drill it out enough for the ez out to fit and put a lot of heat on it to expand the threads, i also like to take the heat away for a second and spray some good old PB blaster on it while its hot helps it penetrate through the threads fully
then slowely use the ez out should come right out with enough heat.

Dude, i cant believe you broke the axle, you really must have been yarning on it!! heat is your freind if its stuck bad enough where you need a breaker bar. I may have a spare axle, actually i probably have a whole front end if you cant or dont want to get the busted part out.

Well i have drilled and re-tapped the front fork. now all i need to do is get he axle free from the break drum (it is frozen on there as well).
I couldn't believe that i broke the axle. I put plenty of heat and penetrating oil on it. Upon closer inspection i noticed the axle was already broken, and had not cracked all the way (the part that i broke was shiny and the previously broken part was rusted)
The joys of owning a 23 year old trike
How much would you want for an old Axle
