alt 50 wont turn over??

hey, i just picked up an 1983 alt 50 and it turns over but only like half a turn and then feels like its hitting something. i took off the top end and that was all in good shape. so are these cranks prone to bending? or connecting rods? also i took all the screws out of the side cover were the oil pump is and i cant get it to budge. are there more things holding it on than just those phillips head screws?

sorry for all the questions i just really wanna get this little guy running a.s.a.p
