The exhaust on my big red 250 is shot. its been welded around 40 times and its rusting from the inside out. It sounds like a bull moose under water. This most recent hole is expanding every time I rev the engine. are there any options for an exhaust for this bike? I kind of dont want to get a stock one but I may have no other choice. Has anybody ever fitted one off another trike?

It runs from 250 - 290 and shipping is free. So when i get back to work I might order one of these. what do you guys think is it a good trusted pipe? www.ggb.ca

megaphone hey? I didnt want the thing to be too loud, but if it isnt i will definitely look into it where its almost 1/3 the price and im on a tight budget.

but would the cobra be really loud? I want a pipe with a nice sound, but not extremely loud, I'd like to find a happy balance. OBTW, I couldnt find any FMF, DG, Bassani, etc for the big red online.

Its kind of GHETTO, but You can always quiet it down with some steel wool but you will sacrifice some performance but it will still be better than stock. I wont lie I've done it.

if the cobra is like the one on my old 200x its a very loud pipe.

maybe a hmf or a power core 4 slip on adapted on would sound nice

well dang. I just did some work to the trike, and was gonna take the exhaust off and paint it, so when i unbolted the two bolts on the muffler, it just fell off. it was that rusty. so i took some two inch pipe and weled it on to the factory slip on, then welded a washer on the end with a half inch hole in the center and it is loud! I am just wanting a decent sound, it isnt bad like this, it sound kinda cool, but i want a deeper sound, thats not too loud

How about this, they have other sizes too

They are both tunable if you are truely concered about sound.

dude, my cobra is cool. it is a tad bit on the loud side, but sounds good! People stop and take a second look at it, cause they think it is something bigger

if you were to put a cobra pipe on a stock 250 what kind of re-jetting would you be looking at any suggestions?

cobra's make it run leaner because of the larger pipe diameter. the header paint will burn off on the first ride. they are nice sounding but it can heart your ears after a bit. i know you don't want to hear it but a good shape stocker is the best imo

Yeah my dad's 350X has the Cobra megaphone and it's LOUD. Sounds real nice but it gets old pretty fast, especially on long trail rides.

i will have to go look at a stock pipe then since i drive my machine a lot the original pipe is more like a header then a piece of pipe running back the muffler looks more like a swiss cheese

I would jump the pilot one size, possibly two sizes but watch for a rich off idle condition (doesn't hurt though) and the main can go up a FEW sizes....

Jetting is tough for you guys if you don't have jets. The dealer charges you 5$ a jet and the hour or so it takes to go and get it. Then the installation.... It can be a 50$ ordeal just to get it jetted, but it is worth it when your done. I think I actually ran a stock 350X main jet when I tossed on a Cobra pipe and opened up the airbox lid.

With any machine airbox lid on or off changes the jetting. I coth the raised portion off of all my lids so I get some water protection, but still allow plenty of air to get in.

Like I said, it's a pain and expensive for most. But when you have a few trikes, you start to build up a "Jet Empire" and before you know it, you have 300$ worth of jets but you have everything you need to get the job done ............

I would find a solid stock exhaust if mine was bad... I had a trashed head pipe on my 350X and put a cobra POS system on... HATED that loud obnoxious junk... If my exhaust falls off someday on my BR, I will look for another Honda exhaust... Just my $.02

^ I am in 100% agreement......

The COBRA is obnoxious and way too loud, hence the extreme jetting changes.

Stock is still stock though, abandon the Cobra or DG and spend the bucks on a nice Supertrapp. You'll be glad you did.

I'm thinking about getting a new pipe for my 400EX and putting my current on my dad's 350X.
