How too take out an 1973 atc axle

I was wondering if anyone can help me? I am trying to restore a 1973 atc 70. It was mine when I was a kid, and I am tring to restore it for my daughter. It is perrty clean. I have it all torn down but not sure how thw axle comes out. It looks like I have to hit it from one side and it should slide out???? Can anyone help me??? Thanks!:( :(

that service manual does not do anything for the 73 atc70 ... its alot different that the 78-85's . it takes alot more work to get the axle out of a 73,,, you have to remove a bearing plate and the covers and the center drum and axle all come out the same side,,, its a real pain,,, just remember where all the parts go when reinstalling,,,
