So, I was racing my neighbor around the block on my 200, and we come around a corner, a very bumpy corner, doing like 30, and i just totaly loose power. no sputtering, no back firing, it just starts whistling. annyyy who, At first i thought it was because i over heated. (I had the ignition timing advandced further than normal). so I waited 15 minuites on the side of the road letting it cool. when i to started it, it idled normaly, but still did the same thing. Whistle Whistle Whistle. It also sounded reaaalyy muffeled. When i tried to rev it, it went up a little, but wouldnt go any further. if i turn over the engine slowly, i hear a squeaking sound. almost like the pistion is scraping against the cylnder. but it only squeaks on the intake stroke. Wtf? then i take out the spark plug, and turn it over, squeaking goes away, sounds normal. So im thinking that the timing chain jumped. Any other ideas? If it was the timing chain, has that ever happened to anyone else? And no, I dont abuse my bike. Tune/chain the oil every month.

Check your carb, intake, and air filter. I've had filters come apart a get caught in the intake and cause similar issues. Another very good possibility is the cam is starving for oil, pull the rocker box and inspect the cam.

found the problem. wasnt timing, wasnt head gasket. When i got the trike, 2 inches of the head pipe were missing, (rotted away, cut off, whatever) so to bridge the gap between the head pipe and muffler, i found a peice of pipe that would fit. The peice of pipe was one of the legs from an old webber bbq. anyway, i cut a section out, but it was a little bit to big to fit into the head pipe. so i cut some notches in the bbq leg and bent the ends in to make it tapered in the intrest that i could force it in. it fit and worked perfectly. for romping around in the woods. when i went to race it, the constant flow and heat of the exaust bent in all of the tapered sections pretty much blocking off the pipe. shabambizzle. Sorry no pictures, camera is mia.
