I rode the 300 today for the first time in probabaly almost a year, only the second time I've ever ridden it. It felt alot faster than the Tecate. It actually felt like it was pulling my arms out of the sockets. But I have a feeling the 'ol Tecate is getting a bit tired. If I wasn't so afraid to get the R dirty I could take it out on a ride and really spank the other guys. Oh well.

So, the HONDA is faster :D but TOO nice to take out with your snoootie hi end friends like me  that have Honda's....

I saw them both today, and they were just sitting there, not fast at all when they were off......

I bet I could beat them on the log splitter.

:D

It's tempting but I have ALOT to do here. Steve can vouch for that.

Why would you be afraid to get the R 'dirty' ?

It looks clean and all that but really - it's a first gen with a 300R in it. Not really that rare.

Take it out - ride it and enjoy it.

p.s. - I better clarify that my remark was NOT a dig at your R bro - you know I think it's a sweet first gen. I think though you really should take it out and ride it and ride it hard. Get it dirty and have fun.

Id run it, but throw those tires in your closet for safe keeping.... ;)

Perfect bike for the railroad trails up here.

Ya I would run it too, but railroad trails and similar would be it. But it would suck having to clean it for hours. Its nice enough to bring in the house and call a keepsake. Then your buddies cant crap on you because its too much work to get it outta the house to go for a ride. :) lol
Perhaps I'd get street tires and just drive it on pavement.

The Tecate is already dirty. Todd (200Xman) put a HUGE amount of time and effort into the R and obviously pays more attention to detail than I can. If I got the R dirty, it would never be the same. It looks like new and it's going to stay that way. I'll take it out on DC's track sometime, but that may be about it.

Nothing wrong with that.... it was fun watching Todd build that.... it was shortly after I got my R that it happened we were both trying to build up 1st generation R's when it wasn't that popular to do so.... Some pretty funny stories on some messed up ebay transactions and general looking out for each other... I found that complete 81R rear end with the extended axle and picked it up for Todd for like $15!! Those were the days when people had your backs and it was really fun building something that hadn't been done often. Be proud of that machine.... one of the "early retro builds" and in my opinion one of the best aftermarket goodies 1st gen R ever put together.
