I'm restoring my 250SX and put a 350X carb on it. I just put a new tank on it and tried to start it for the first time since tearing it apart, and gas is pouring out of one of the vent/overflow tubes on the carb. Can anyone tell me what may be causing this and how to fix it? It's the tube coming from the top of the carb in the pic.
Thanks,
Andy

could be as simple as your float being stuck. hit the bowl of your carb about 10x with something like a screwdriver handle, keep tapping it like you are playing the drums until it stops.

Did you clean the carb before putting it on? If not go buy a can of carb cleaner and take it apart and clean every hole and everything.

Yes, totally cleaned and rebuilt the carb with a rebuild kit. Stuck float bowl was my only idea too, I'll try rapping it a few times.

Try the tapping. If that doesn't work, take the carb off. Take the bowl off the bottom, turn the gas on and it should run out. then with the gas still on, push the float up and see if it stops. If it still doesn't stop then take it apart and check the needle valve and seat. Crap from the tank likes to get in there and not allowing the needle to seat.

the pin that holds the floats on may need to be removed n cleaned too

It was the needle valve. I was confused because I thought the overflow was coming from that top tube, but it was actually coming from the bowl tube. I fired it up for a few seconds for the first time in around 2 years! I'll get the airbox and tank back on it tomorrow to see how it's running.
Thanks guys.
