correct me if im wrong but if your at tdc....and you look in the spark plug hole on a 200x....you shouldnt be able to see the valves? i think i might have gotten things in backwards haha

sounds like your 180 degrees out of time . Valves should be closed when the piston is all the way up TDC .

Position the crank at TDC, where the "T" mark aligns with the index mark.

then move the camshaft sprocket to where the "o" on the camshaft sprocket aligns with the index mark on the cylinder head cover.

make sure you loosen the cam chain tensioner adjusting bolt and slowly turn the crankshaft counter clockwise on complete revolution. Then tighten the adjusting bolt.

i dont have to take the cam chain off the sprocket?

no just take tension of fit and walk it one tooth at a time and be careful not to jump it of fthe crankshaft cam chain sprocket.

if your 180 off just take the 2 bolts out of the cam sprocket and turn the cam or cam sprocket 180 so the holes line up again. simple....

remove cdi assembly and cdi cover
remove 2 bolts holding cam shaft gear to cam
loosen bolt next to cdi hole you are accessing cam bolt sthrough. (shoudl be a 10mm) pull that bolt out and do not loose.
tension is now off the cam chain and you can turn the cam by hand to get the cam flipped the right way.
reinstall cam bolts, use a screwdriver (flathead works good) and push the cam tensioneer down to align botl hole and put long bolt back in.
install cdi cover and asssembly and attempt to start.

First off are you sure you are at TDC? The piston comes to the top twice. One time the valves will be closed (compression cycle) and the second time the exhaust valve will be closing and the intake opening. So to find top dead center pull the spark plug and plug the hole with your finger. Turn the motor over till you feel it pushing on said finger and line up the timing mark on the crank. That is Top Dead Center. If the cam timing was set correctly, you were probably just 360 degrees of with the crank.

i figured it out...i ended up having to pull EVERYTHING apart because when i was putting the sprocket bolts back on..i dropped one into the case :-/ i used a magnet with a screwdriver and fished it out...all set now...have yet to start it up...maybe tomorrow
