Anybody know what the symptoms are of a bad stator? My timing is all over the place. Im thinking the stator is out but I don't know much about them.

I'll tell you what happened when mine crapped out.
The trike died, my first guess was a fouled plug. The plug was over a year old, so I figured it was about time. So I swap out the plug, she fires up and runs for about two minutes, then craps out again. I tried to fire it back up and got nothing for about 3-4 minutes. Then it eventually started. It ran for about 20 or 30 seconds, then died again. I'd wait 3-5 minutes, start it up, and repeat.
So basically I had about 20 seconds of run time, 4 minutes of cool down. Crappy, but it got me out of the woods.

Sounds just like what my trike is doing. What did you replace it with? Ricky stators seem pretty popular. Is there a way I can just fix mine? Also anybody know what size flywheel puller I need?

You can use a steering wheel puller. I got mine from autozone. I didn't bother trying to rewire anything. I got the whole Ricky Stator stator and called it a day.
