whats a good carb to run? i have 3 to choose from. a 36 pj, 36 pwk, and a 39 pwk. all keihins. i was thinking about useing the 36 pwk. but for either the 36 or 39 i'm going to have to turn the od of the carb intake to fit the carb boot. i have a new boot and don't want to stretch the crap out of it and have it tear. i want the bike to run good everywhere not just be all top end.

specs, 50 over, little bit o porting, stock pipe and fmf silencer for now, boyseen reeds, and probably a pod filter.

I don't have any firsthand experience with anything other than the stocker (34mm Mikuni I beleive) on my 85, but you've seen that thing go, Shawn. It's got plenty of grunt down low and pulls crazy hard up top. I'd try the 36 for now, see how it goes, then if you get a pipe maybe experiment with the 39.

I read the 36 PWK has the potential to flow just as good as a 38 PWK.

I too would use the 36 if I had a choice.

I run 38/39 PWK on my 86 KX250 and it really hits in 3rd gear and on up.

i have a couple 34 mikuni's, flat slides, but i'd rather use a kehin.

i'll try the 36 pwk. i've had it for about 5 years, and never used it. this will give me a chance to try it out.

your gonna get about 1 or 2hp gain at high rpms with the 39 vs the 36 and youll have better lowend with the 36. id go with the 36mm because 1-2hp on top isnt very noticable compared to the 3-6000rpm range where you will benefit from the 36. plus its not really worth stretching out a good carb boot...
